Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY) has joined Tuition Rewards, a nationwide consortium of 221 private colleges & universities from SAGE Scholars that rewards families for saving for higher education with points that can be used to reduce tuition costs. Georgetown is among 20 colleges to join Tuition Rewards in 2008; 130,000+ students are now enrolled.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) November 12, 2008 -- Georgetown College (Georgetown, KY), whose distinguished alumni include five Rhodes Scholars, 41 college and university presidents, two Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award winners and18 Fulbright Scholars since 1990, is now a member of the SAGE Tuition Rewards enrollment marketing consortium. Twenty colleges have now joined in 2008.

"The short-term enrollment consequences of the current economic malaise demand creative and aggressive marketing strategies … and our Tuition Rewards Consortium is just that," declared Dr. James B. Johnston, chairman and CEO of SAGE Scholars. "An almost perfect storm of economic turmoil and unfavorable demographic trends make participation in the Tuition Rewards Consortium more important than ever."

130,000+ students are now enrolled in Tuition Rewards, which fosters a dynamic relationship among families, colleges and financial institutions. 27,400+ students have joined in 2008. When registered students attend one of the participating private four-year colleges, the family's accumulated Tuition Reward points may be redeemed as a "scholarship" - a non-need based grant or discount -- of up to one full year's tuition.

Families earn Tuition Rewards by saving for college with a variety of financial partners, including the Pennsylvania and Wisconsin state 529 college savings programs and firms such as Allstate, The College Tuition Benefit and Wells Fargo. Tuition Rewards is now the largest U.S. private college savings program (based on participating students and the value of eligible assets).

A private, coed, residential liberal arts college, Georgetown College combines its historical Baptist tradition with quality academic programs and freedom of inquiry to encourage its 1,365 students to become global citizens who live, learn and believe with balance and respect.

Founded in 1787 and chartered in 1829, Georgetown's vibrant, diverse community is student-centered. A 15-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio and small classes allow professors to know their students well, expressing care while creating demanding and challenging academic programs. Georgetown offers a variety of ways to engage in learning beyond the classroom, including an equine and global scholars programs, study abroad and numerous service-learning opportunities.

Graduates provide distinctive leadership in business, medicine, law, education, communications, ministry and the arts. Georgetown offers 43 majors - 15 inter-disciplinary - and is located just 10 minutes from Lexington and approximately one hour from Louisville and Cincinnati.
