Does Your Date Have You "Seeing Red?"

New Survey Finds the Basic Rules of Dating Decorum Still Apply

Orchard Park, NY, (PRWEB) November 12, 2008 -- If you're constantly on your cell phone, rude to the waitress or indulge in too many beers on that first date, then you may be committing some serious dating deal breakers. According to a new survey* for ROHTO® eye drops, almost half (46 percent) of U.S. adults aged 18 and older would "see red" if their date "talks on a cell phone or texts during the date," while 43 percent reported that being with a date that "drinks too much" would cause them to "see red."

The ROHTO® survey also found that:

  • 62% would see red on a date if their date "does drugs"
  • -Not surprisingly, those aged 55+ are the most likely to feel this way (70%)
-Women are more likely than men to say this (66% vs. 57%, respectively)
  • 59% would see red if their date "has bad body odor or bad breath"
  • -Those aged 18-34 (51%) are less likely to say this than those who are older (59% of those aged 35-54 and 65% of those aged 55+)
-Women would "see red" over this more than men (62% vs. 55%, respectively)
  • More than four-in-ten (41%) would see red if their date "is rude to the waiter/waitress"
  • -Those in the South & the West are more likely than those in the Northeast & Midwest to say this (45% vs. 36%, respectively)
  • 21% would see red if their date "only talks about himself or herself" or "talks about his/her ex" (20%)
  • -Women are more likely than men to see red when their date only talks about themselves (26% vs. 16%, respectively)
-Men are more likely than women to see red when their date mentions their ex (23% vs. 17%, respectively)
  • 17% would see red if their date "shows up late"
  • 14% would see red if their date "is cheap/a bad tipper"
  • -Women are twice as likely as men to "see red" over a cheapskate date (18 vs. 9%, respectively)
  • 13% would see red if their date "has obnoxious friends"
  • -Men are more sensitive about this than women (15% vs. 10%, respectively)
  • 11% would see red if their date is "badly dressed"
  • 8% would see red if their date "arranges a 'double date' with a couple I can't stand"
  • -Men (10%) are more like than women (7%) to say this
  • 2% say something else would make them "see red" on a date
  • 7% say nothing make them "see red" on a date
On the other hand, if a great date has you "seeing red," literally, from staying out too late (wink!), reach for a tiny bottle of ROHTO® eye drops, which have a unique cooling sensation that soothes and moisturizes irritated eyes and removes redness, so your eyes can sparkle as bright as your post-date smile.
