IP5280 Announces New SIP Service That "Supercharges" Existing Business Phone Systems

IP5280 Communications announced today the launch of its broader SIP5280 trunking service that delivers a savings of as much as 70% in local and long distance telephone costs over traditional phone company rates, while expanding popular group and user features that maximize productivity. The expanded SIP5280 capability enables a business to extend the life of an existing phone system in order to maximize the initial investment and to get the most out of a legacy PBX, IP-PBX or Key Set phone system.

Englewood, Colo. (PRWEB) November 15, 2008 -- IP5280 Communications, a specialist in IP-based telecommunications for business, announced today the launch of its broader SIP5280 trunking service that delivers a savings of as much as 70% in local and long distance telephone costs over traditional phone company rates, while expanding popular group and user features that maximize productivity.

"It's like putting a supercharger on your current phone system," said Jeffrey Pearl, co-founder and managing partner of IP5280 Communications. "Businesses want to extend the life of their current phone systems and expand functionality, while at the same time save money over traditional PRI-type services from the old phone company."

The expanded SIP5280 capability enables a business to extend the life of an existing phone system in order to maximize the initial investment and to get the most out of a legacy PBX, IP-PBX or Key Set phone system.

A 5-year-old phone system, for example, may have limited voicemail functions, cumbersome call control features and no viable path to a unified communications plan for users - at least not without a hefty price tag for upgrade. SIP5280 addresses this through the introduction of Group and User Feature call options, including such selectable user-level functions as voicemail, find-me/follow-me call routing, call forwarding, auto attendant capabilities, line rollover and email integration.

IP5280 Communications is introducing flat-rated and usage-based pricing options to deliver greater cost savings to small-medium and enterprise customers making the transition to Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) service. SIP trunking service delivers integrated voice and data communications over a single IP circuit, allowing businesses to realize as much as a 70% cost savings over local and long distance calling provided by traditional phone companies.

Standard SIP5280 service options include E911, DID, local number portability, caller line identification, call waiting, call name retrieval, free on-net calling, directory listing and support of both G.711 and G.729 capabilities. SIP5280 utilizes SIP, an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard protocol, for initializing realtime multimedia communications such as Internet telephony calls, video, chat and gaming applications. IP5280 utilizes a simplified SIP registration process that eases initial set up and provides greater flexibility for call control and user management.

"SIP trunking is gaining awareness as a PSTN-like replacement service, but there are a variety of ways to implement the technology and for things to go wrong," said Carlos Johnson, vice president of engineering for IP5280. "IP5280 has taken the critical steps necessary to ensure hardware compatibility, technical documentation and experienced resources key for a successful customer implementation."
