Embotics CEO to Present at SYS-CON's 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo on Best Practices to Control VM Sprawl
San Jose, Calif (PRWEB) November 17, 2008 -- Embotics, the Virtualization Lifecycle Management™ Company, today announced that CEO Jay Litkey will present on best practices to control virtual machine (VM) sprawl at SYS-CON's 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo in San Jose, Calif. Litkey will discuss the challenges of controlling a virtual infrastructure and the increasingly prevalent concerns that offset the benefits of virtualization as data center consolidation projects grow and become harder to manage.
What
Implementing virtualization is seen as a business benefit that reduces energy, cost and resources for companies. However, the management of virtual machines is an increasing concern for IT administrators. In this session, Litkey will address existing concerns including security, administration, increased costs, compliance and configuration management. He also will detail best practices and technologies for applying and enforcing policies that identify, track and manage the entire virtualization deployment process.
Prior to Embotics, Litkey founded Symbium, a venture capital funded company focused on autonomic computing and the automated management of IT infrastructures, managing business development and product management. Prior to that, Jay was the founding CEO of BlackholeTV, an Internet public video content aggregation and technology startup that he grew from a concept to 45 people and revenue generation.
Why
The traditional data center management tools used for physical architectures do not function well in the virtual space. Management tools supplied by virtualization vendors are focused mostly on deploying VMs rather than managing them. This makes it difficult to control larger virtual environments and ease deployment of virtual machines which significantly increases the potential for virtual sprawl. Virtualization technologies can help IT organizations reduce costs and improve their flexibility, however virtual sprawl can consume those cost savings, and put the organization at risk. This in turn directly impacts fiscal and operational governance. Budgets become difficult to predict, optimization becomes impossible and audits become manual.
