Denver, CO (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 17, 2008 -- A new website for marquee skate brand Vision Streetwear was selected by Communication Arts, the world’s premier trade publication for design and visual communications, as a winner in the Interactive Annual 14, the magazine’s annual competition for excellence and innovation in web design. The Vision Streetwear site was designed and developed for Collective Licensing International by FL2, a high-end, full-service, interactive agency that specializes in producing world-class interactive.

The 2008 publication includes 35 winning submissions selected by a panel of seven leading interactive media professionals, who spent 10 weeks reviewing 2,250 entries. The featured sites give people a brand experience that incorporates unconventional and highly effective advertising techniques, allow people to engage with interactive media in unexpected and compelling new ways, and integrate real-world experiences into the online experience. The Vision Streetwear website is included with other winners in the September/October 2008 issue of Communication Arts, and a snapshot of the site also appears on the publication’s cover.

“On this project, we worked with a like-minded client who shares our core value of progressive thinking,” says Karl Becker, president of FL2. “We regularly team with branding and advertising agencies that are looking for an interactive partner and that appreciate the innovation that underlies outstanding design. The agencies provide the overall brand positioning, then rely on us to do what we do best—bring brands, strategies, and campaigns into the interactive world.”

The Vision Streetwear site’s award-winning features include full-screen, high-definition, content-rich video used to advertise products in forward-thinking ways, as well as background video of in-motion products. Included in the “Advertising” category, the site also has urban, gritty photography that brings to life the culture and history of the iconic brand, minimal copy, and creative product presentations that appeal to both brand loyalists and newcomers. The cutting-edge site was designed and developed in only four weeks.

“(The Vision Streetwear website has) a great layering of video and graphics that works perfectly for this brand,” writes Communication Arts juror Jon McVey, executive creative director at Seattle-based ZAAZ. Juror Toria Emery, associate creative director at San Francisco-based Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, also notes, “This site uses video in a way that feels true and authentic rather than forced and extraneous, and it does a good job of capturing the history, spirit and aesthetic of boarding culture.”

Since its launch, the Vision Streetwear website has won numerous accolades, including a gold-level American Design Award in February 2008 and W3 awards for the Teen and Sports categories in 2007. It was also named one of FWA’s top 50 sites of 2007 and the FWA Site Of The Day, and it won an Interactive Media Award and was an official 2008 Webby Award honoree.
