New Shipping Option Available for Ebayers in Hawaii and Alaska
State Residents to save money with package forwarder
Denver (PRWEB) November 18, 2008 -- Ebayers in Hawaii and Alaska now have the option of having their merchandise shipped to a Denver-based package forwarder, who will then forward their package to them using Priority Mail. Aloha Forwarding (http://www.AlohaForwarding.com) offers members the option of having their packages forwarded to them using either Priority Mail or Parcel Post, with savings averaging 40% off what it would cost to have their packages shipped direct.
For Ebay fans who depend upon the online giant for hard to find merchandise, nothing is more frustrating than finding that perfect "it" and discovering the merchant refuses to ship via Priority Mail. UPS and FedEx prices are almost four times what it would cost to ship a 2-lb package from the continental United States to Hawaii or Alaska using Priority Mail. Some merchants even refuse to ship to Hawaii or Alaska. "The worst is when you call and they say they don't ship 'out of the country,'" complains one frequent contributor to an online Ebay forum. "You see it on Ebay all the time," adds another forum contributor. "They charge an extra $30 for shipping a small, lightweight thing to Alaska, when you know it's exactly the same price, whether it's shipped to Texas or Alaska."
Aloha Forwarding founder, Darrell Houghton, feels their pain. Having lived in Hawaii for nearly 5 years, he has experienced the challenges of shopping online. Following the philosophy of "finding a need and filling it," Houghton started Aloha Forwarding when he moved to Denver and saw an opportunity to provide a service he wished he had when he lived in Hawaii. "Our business model is very simple," explains Houghton. "For merchants who only use UPS or FedEx, have your packages delivered to Aloha Forwarding, and we'll forward it to you using Priority Mail."
When asked why some Ebay merchants don't offer Priority Mail as a shipping option, Houghton explained, "Most think it costs more to mail a package to Hawaii and Alaska and they don't want to hassle with going to the Post Office. Others ship only with UPS or FedEx because they want a proof of delivery in case there's a dispute with the buyer." But when delivery charges cost more than the item, people have to decide if it's worth it.
"We expect Ebay merchants to embrace our services because it opens up a large marketplace they weren't competitive in," explains Houghton. "People living in Hawaii and Alaska will turn to online merchants when they can't find something locally, and Aloha Forwarding will remove the shipping issue many residents face."
Can people still save money by using Aloha Forwarding? "There are no membership fees, so you can join for free and use our services only when you need them. Even with our small handling fee, our members save anywhere from $16 to over $100 per package," says Houghton.
To help introduce the benefits of using Aloha Forwarding, new members can use coupon code "Ebay01" to receive $1.00 off the handling fee of their first order. Coupon expires December 31st, 2008.
