'Paper or Plastic?' WeRBags.com Says, 'Neither!'
As the world shifts and more people are becoming environmentally conscious, Ronald Lykens is making it easier for people by offering a selection of heavy duty, great looking reusable bags through his new website, WeRBags.com. Though it's only a month old, Lykens is expanding the site and has recently launched a new blog.
Gahanna, OH (PRWEB) November 19, 2008 -- Ronald Lykens spent over 40 years working for major oil companies and picked up an infinite wealth of information concerning energy, particularly the importance of conservation and ecology. When he struck out on his own, he geared his website towards offering reusable shopping bags.
"These bags will not tear like plastic or paper and break your eggs," said Lykens of the reusable bags. "These are really durable bags that will last you several years."
Lykens started www.WeRBags.com after fellow members at his church mentioned that they were using reusable shopping bags for school fundraisers in place of the typical cookie and pizza route. Lykens approached them about starting a website for them and the rest is internet history.
The site launched in September 2008 and even though it's only a month old, the site has several bags of various styles, all of which are high quality and sturdy. Lykens doesn't plan to stop there, however; he has plans to expand his line further and create a one-stop bag shop.
"I want to have holiday themed bags and throughout the year, I want the bags to reflect the corresponding holiday, such as Easter," he said.
A unique feature of his website is that Lykens has added a news page to his webstore, which contains a running counter of how many plastic bags are consumed within the calendar year, as well as some additional tidbits, such as laws that have cities and counties initiating taxes and fees for the uses of plastic bags at stores.
This informational feature has also carried over to Lykens' informational blog, www.ReusableShoppingBagsInfo.com. "It's objective AND subjective," explained Lykens. "I want to keep the public aware of what's going on in the bag industry and how laws are affecting shoppers. I want to include the positive and the negatives of paper and plastic bags and give the reasons of why reusable bags will replace them both."
According to a report from the Discovery Health Channel, it's estimated that 12 million barrels of oil and 14 million trees go into the production of plastic and paper bags each year in just the United States, so as fossil fuel becomes scarce, Ronald Lykens' experience working in the oil industry is allowing him to help usher in a drastic change in mass consumption. People won't stop shopping, but in spending a few dollars now, over time, people will have a chance to save something else that is far more priceless: the planet.
