Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) November 19, 2008 -- Loren Ridinger, senior vice president of Market America, was announced Tuesday Nov. 18, 2008 as a recipient of the 2009 Women of Substance & Style by The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis.
The invitation only brunch, held at the Lois Pope Life Center, announced Ridinger and other select honorees in advance of the 2009 Women of Substance & Style event at South Florida's grand affair "Destination Fashion" on Saturday March 7, 2009 at Bal Harbour Shops. Ridinger and the other recipients were selected based on their philanthropy, volunteerism, business acumen and doing it all with a sense of style. Among the causes and organizations Ridinger supports and works closely with are the Jennifer Lopez Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Mt. Sinai Hospital, the American Cancer Society, The Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, Friends of the Orphans, Make-A-Wish, and many others.
"I am honored that The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis has selected me for this prestigious award," said Ridinger. "Destination Fashion is one of South Florida's biggest events and is an opportunity to further promote the causes that are close to my heart and to bring greater awareness to the Buoniconti Fund and to ultimately find a cure for paralysis."
Proceeds from Destination Fashion directly benefit the Buoniconti Fund, which is the fundraising arm of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis. Designer extraordinaire Michael Kors who does only two select events a year, will be there in person to show his exclusive fall fashions at the high-profile event and fashion extravaganza. Grammy Award-winning trio The Pointer Sisters will perform in addition to a headlining act that will be announced in the beginning of 2009. Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones and his wife Dawn Jones will serve as co-chairs for the event. Ridinger and Jones join a number of philanthropists who have supported the Buoniconti Fund, including legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, Hall of Fame NFL coach Don Shula, designer Ralph Lauren, and Grammy award winner Gloria Estefan
