DNI Retail Design Launches New Outdoor Digital Signage for Harris Theater

DNI Retail Design creates and produces climate controlled outdoor digital signs for Harris Theater in Chicago.

Chicago, Illinois (PRWEB) November 21, 2008 -- DNI Retail Design (http://www.dniretaildesign.com/) in partnership with Mtek Inc. Has created and produced the climate controlled outdoor digital signs for the Harris Theater.

Located on the northern edge of Chicago 's Millennium Park, the Harris Theater is one of the cities premier performance centers.

Signage for Harris is extremely important as the theater is located underground with only an above ground entrance. The climate controlled digital signs blanket the entrance providing identification and a billboard of current and up and coming events.

Dual 57 inch LCD screens are mounted vertically and encased in a brushed stainless steel frame and stand which is anchored into the sidewalk and building. Overall the signs are 43 inches wide and nine and one half feet tall. The top of each sign has back lit laser cut, push thru acrylic letters identifying the Harris Theater.

By going with a climate controlled digital format rather than the traditional static billboard used by theaters for hundreds of years, the Harris can create exciting visual experiences to capture the eyes of the passing street traffic.

The cost of this type of signage has dropped dramatically in the last two years. Still higher than static signage however, the cost is compensated by the visual impact of the sign and the ability to change the content at a moments notice remotely, anywhere. In the long run the sign becomes cost effective by eliminating the need for traditional artwork, film, paper. large format printing and installation, yesterday's vehicle for theater signs.

Jeff Pacelt the President of DNI Retail Design and David Tibault, president of Mtek, said in a recent interview, " Many companies have the ability to produce digital signs. What becomes important is the matching and programming of the components along with the ability to construct a climate controlled case for the sign.

The complexity of the digital format dictates that an experienced team of experts is selected to design and produce digital signage. This is where the partnership of DNI Retail Design and Mtek has the greatest impact. The partnership works from concept through installation and beyond until every expectation is met.

The Harris Theater is a front runner in the digital signage trend. As the prices continue to drop, you will be begin to see this type of digital sign in Municipalities, transportation hubs, hotels, shopping malls, anywhere there is a large amount of foot traffic and the need to quickly change a signs graphic content. The LCD digital sign is truly a part of the digital revolution.
