GO Airport Express Offers Reasons to Travel This Holiday Season

Besides current lowered fares, GO Airport Express offers three more reasons to travel this holiday season and tips to make the journey more pleasant.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) November 21, 2008 -- Between lower fuel costs and the need to boost passenger numbers, airlines are now reducing fares, giving 2008 a shot at being one of the best years for holiday travel since 2001.

"The bargains, package deals and rewards are too good to pass up as airlines and hotels get creative to entice people to travel," says John McCarthy, president of GO Airport Express, Chicago's leading ground transportation provider.

Northwest Airlines was the first to cut fares in late October, offering discounts of up to 25 percent from previous ticket prices. Southwest Airlines soon followed and put fares on sale for flights starting Dec. 2 to boost travel in the slow periods after Thanksgiving and Christmas. Delta, American Airlines, United Airlines, Continental and US Airways all matched the sale fares.

In addition to the availability of cheaper fares, GO Airport Express offers three more reasons to travel this holiday season and tips to make the journey more pleasant:

1. Smaller crowds: In an earlier effort to reduce costs, most airlines reduced the number of flights. As more people opt to stay home for the holidays, this means smaller crowds at airports across the country, resulting in shorter check-in and security lines, less-stressed airport employees and a more relaxed atmosphere. Additionally, many airports, including O'Hare and Midway in Chicago, offer special family check-in lines, allowing those with children to proceed through security at their own pace without holding up passengers who can opt for speedier lines.

2. Hotel bargains: Some hotels and resorts are offering holiday package deals with discounted room rates and extras such as free breakfast, discounts to local attractions and restaurants, and gift certificates to retailers. Check www.hotels.com or individual hotel sites for deals and promotions.

3. Last chance to use frequent flyer rewards: Many airlines have announced changes to their frequent flyer programs, such as increasing the number of point requirements and reducing the number of seats available for members. By using your rewards this holiday season, you may avoid tighter restrictions in the future. Get details on the changes at www.frequentflyer.com.

The best place to look for discounted fares and package deals is online; though discount air carriers usually only post reduced fares on their individual Web sites. However, watch out for fees, such as those for checked bags, seat assignments obtained at the time of booking, and hidden surcharges that may not be listed.

"People who are flexible about travel dates and times will be able to obtain the best deals," adds McCarthy.

Founded in 1853 as the Parmelee Transportation Company, GO Airport Express currently transports more than one million passengers annually between O'Hare and Midway airports and downtown Chicago, its surrounding neighborhoods and most suburbs. Its shared-ride, door-to-door services are convenient, affordable and environmentally friendly: with six people on board, a van uses only 30 percent of the fuel that six cars would use and creates 54 percent fewer carbon emissions.

GO Airport Express is also a founding member of GO Group, LLC., a network of global ground transportation providers to better serve the needs of customers worldwide. To book ground transportation online visit www.AirportExpress.com.
