Jake's Loft Fundraiser Serves Reminder that Life is good in Hard Times Too

Southlake Store Welcomes Life is good® co-founder Bert Jacobs on December 7

Southlake, TX (PRWEB) November 21, 2008 -- Bert Jacobs, nationally known co-founder of the Life is good® brand of clothing and accessories, will appear at Jake's Loft, a newly opened retail store at the Shops of Southlake that exclusively sells Life is good products, on Sunday, December 7th beginning at 2:00 PM. Bert will sign copies of his fundraising book Life is good: Simple Wisdom from Jake and Rocket. 100% of Life is good's profit from book sales at the event will be donated to the Life is good Kids Foundation, established to help children facing unfair challenges. Book sales in the past year have resulted in company donations of more than $250,000 to the Foundation. Bert stresses the special importance of positive fundraising events during an economic downturn. "What America needs now, more than ever, is to come together with a healthy optimistic attitude," says Jacobs. "The issues we face today are serious and real, and we need positive actions, not finger pointing; to take a page from our book: "Don't knock something, build something."

Organizers see the event as an important opportunity to promote community and optimism during challenging economic times. They stress the Life is good Company that brothers Bert and John Jacobs founded in 1994, is anything but a fair-weather brand. "The Life is good brand has a rich history of spreading optimism and positive vibes in good times and bad," says Lynn Arnn, co-owner of Jake's Loft. In the wake of the 9-11 tragedy, Life is good designed a fund raising t-shirt and in two months raised $208,000 through the sale of the t-shirts that was donated to victims' families. We opened Jake's Loft because we want to spread optimism and positive vibes in our community. We have customers who are facing life-threatening illnesses and other hardships. They tell us about the impact they have received from Life is good's optimistic messages and expressions of gratitude for life's simple pleasures. The words "Life is good" are a powerful reminder to appreciate what we have, and to believe that no matter what, the promise of good in our lives is real."

Jake's Loft, launched in August 2007 in Southlake, TX, by local owners Dyane and Lynn Arnn, is an independently owned store, called a Genuine Neighborhood Shoppe, selling nothing but Life is good merchandise. It is the first store of its kind in Tarrant County. The store offers a complete line of clothing and accessories, much of it featuring Jake, the happy-go-lucky stick figure with a huge smile who represents the brand, and his dog, Rocket.
