General Tommy Franks Addresses Future Leaders at Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School "Preparing Students for Tomorrow's Challenges"

General Tommy Franks to kick-off Distinguished Lecture Series at Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School, Tampa. The event will be on Wednesday December 3, 2008 from 10:00 - 1:30 p.m. Franks is a retired general and former commander in chief of U.S. Central Command in Tampa and the author of "American Soldier." BDCHS is a high performing Hillsborough County Public Charter High School, with a focus on Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment programs that help college bound students better prepare for post-secondary education experiences.

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) November 26, 2008 -- General Tommy Franks will speak to students and community members at Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School, 11602 N. 15th Street Tampa, FL 33612. The event will be on Wednesday December 3, 2008 from 10:00 - 1:30 p.m. and will kick-off the Distinguished Lecture Series organized by BDCHS supporters. Franks is a retired general and former commander in chief of U.S. Central Command in Tampa and the author of "American Soldier."

This fundraising event includes a luncheon, U. S. Military Color Guard, Corporate Sponsor Recognition, Special Sponsorship Reception with General Franks and student-lead school tours. Members of the media will have the opportunity to speak with Gen Franks at approximately 11:00, immediately following his speech.

"Having such a distinguished military leader with personal ties to Tampa Bay kick-off this lecture series gives us one more opportunity to prepare our students for future challenges," said Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks. Brooks is a Founding Member and serves as President of the Governing Board of BDCHS.

BDCHS is a high performing Hillsborough County Public Charter High School, with a focus on Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment programs that help college bound students better prepare for post-secondary education experiences.

Brooks-DeBartolo opened in August 2007 as the only charter high school in Hillsborough County that focuses on students seeking to accelerate credit earning at the secondary level. It is also one of the few charter schools in the district led and supported by charitable foundations -- the Derrick Brooks Charities Inc. and the DeBartolo Family Foundation.

Brooks is a National Football League linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the DeBartolo family is involved in numerous business interests, including various area developments and sports management.
