Miracle Jesus Image Doggie Door To Be Auctioned on eBay

Laid off computer executive auctions divine door to pay mortgage. Door made headlines two years ago when man recanted decision to put his dogs in shelter after seeing Jesus in the pooches' door.

Beaumont, Calif. (PRWEB) November 28, 2008 - A Southern California man is putting the image of Jesus that made headlines two years ago up for auction. Roger Bowman, 43, was recently laid off from his C.I.O. position because of the economic downturn and is selling his beloved door to bridge the gap until he finds a new job. Mr. Bowman first saw the divine image January 15th, 2007, while living in neighboring Yucaipa, just as he was contemplating the donation of his two large dogs because of their unruly behavior. He was struck not only by the likeness but by the fact the image, which he believes to be a universal symbol of compassion, had appeared on the very door the pooches used every day. To Mr. Bowman the symbolism was clear; he believed it was a message telling him to keep the dogs.

Ordinary Door Transformed into Divine Image
Mr. Bowman and his then-fiancé, now wife, Deborah, had already located a shelter and were on the cusp of acting when he spotted the face of Jesus beaming radiantly from the condemned dogs' door. At that time the Sun had just peeked from around the house and was shining through the cellulose door causing the face to effervesce a warm amber light. "The first thing I thought of was Moses on the mountain in front of the burning bush," said Mr. Bowman, adding "Though not as dramatic, the effect was similar." The dogs had apparently brushed additional grime from a recent rainstorm onto the door, completing the pattern in time for their own reprieve. Though possibly a coincidence, Mr. Bowman counters, "The majority of all divine occurrences throughout history could be so explained if one were predisposed to reject the message being conveyed."

Dog Trainer to the Rescue
Having heard the plight on the radio, Karen Duet of K-9 Companions, a dog obedience school in Riverside, CA, volunteered her company's services and trained both dogs using their "boot camp" methodology. Trainer Diane's experience allowed her to assess Max, a lab-shepherd mix, as unstable and discovered his erratic behavior negatively affected the other dog, a pure-bred black lab named Hercules who she trained to perfect obedience. Despite Max's problem, K-9 Companions improved his behavior enormously. Unfortunately, Max degenerated further and was eventually put down humanly. Hercules remains with the family and has retained all his training.

About the door
The image is superior to most naturally-occurring Jesus likenesses, known as pareidolia, because the face is more distinct than past images such as those found on toast, tortillas and x-rays, and because of its appearance on an item of relevance to a pending decision regarding compassion for animals. It is 15 inches by 12 inches and is framed in a 21" x 17" display case with backlight assembly. It's a PetSafe brand door made of pliable dark plastic material that resembles film negative. The image is formed from a combination of the manufacturer's logo, scratches, wear abrasions, and hardened dirt. The patterns that contribute to the image occur on both sides of the door. Because of the dark nature of the material, the image forms only when backlit which then allows both sides to be viewed simultaneously.
