(PRWEB) November 26, 2008 -- A more cost-conscious passenger is taking less time away from home for holiday travel. ARC -- a travel data solutions company -- looks at ticketing and advance sales data by travel agents for Thanksgiving through New Year. "The findings show startling differences compared to preceding years," says ARC spokesperson Allan Muten.

ARC is also mining its vast data resources to look at destination preferences during the holiday season. Ranking domestic city pairs for origin and destinations, the following are the top three city pairs with an accompanying chart of the top twenty-five included with this release.

 
  • Top Origin and destination for Thanksgiving is Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu (HNL) - up from number three the year before
  • Second is travel from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK) - up from number four in 2007 - making Los Angeles the favorite place to "depart" this Thanksgiving
  • Third is Philadelphia (PHL) to Orlando (MCO) up from fifth in 2007
