How Serious Is Your Debt?

Your doctor will tell you that a regular exam is the best way to avoid problems in the future. For Americans worried about their credit card debt as the holidays approach, a "debt-stress check-up" is just what the doctor ordered.

(PRWEB) November 26, 2008 -- Your doctor will tell you that a regular exam is the best way to avoid problems in the future. For Americans worried about their credit card debt as the holidays approach, a "debt-stress check-up" is just what the doctor ordered.

InCharge® Debt Solutions has created a free online check-up that helps consumers gauge the severity of their credit card debt, ability to repay, and how much stress they feel over their bills. To get yours, click the "Do I Need a Debt Solution?" button at www.incharge.org.

"Facing the holidays in this turbulent economy without a complete picture of your credit card debt is like spending the day outdoors in 32 degree weather without a coat," said Etta Money, president and CEO of InCharge, one of the nation's leading nonprofit credit counseling organizations. "It's not only unhealthy, it's unwise. And, thanks to the InCharge online debt-stress check-up…it's unnecessary! It may even help consumers avoid the temptation of adding to their credit card debt during the holiday season."

For some consumers, their debt stress may be rated on a ten point scale as "manageable" and, using the budgeting tools and calculators found on www.incharge.org, they can improve their debt situation on their own.

Those with a high debt stress score may continue online after their "check-up" to learn more about alternative debt solutions or choose to take advantage of a free telephone consultation with a Certified Credit Counselor by calling InCharge at 888-360-9694. If the consumer chooses a Debt Management Program as the best solution, InCharge works with creditors to help consolidate credit card payments into one, reduce interest rates, eliminate late and over-limit fees, and bring a halt to collection calls.

For more personal finance tips and credit counseling information, visit www.incharge.org or call InCharge at 888-360-9694.

Headquartered in Orlando, Florida, InCharge® Institute of America, Inc. (ICI), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with affiliates specializing in personal finance education and credit counseling.
