Sportsgirl Supply Chain Expert Selected for Inclusion in Australia's Best Magazine

Lance Halley, Group Procurement Manager for Sportsgirl, has been included in an interview for Austalia's Best Retail Magazine, released November 2008.

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) November 28, 2008 -- Award-winning publication, Australia's Best, has confirmed the inclusion of Lance Halley from Sportsgirl Australia for an in-depth interview on supply chain management at the Australian company.

The first Sportsgirl store was opened in 1948 in Swanston Street, Melbourne, by the Bardas family manufacturing company - who also owned the Sportscraft business. In 1959 the family moved the business to a shop in Collins Street, a prominent site that became a significant element in the Bardas family's retailing and business strategy.
By 1960 a flagship store was opened in Pitt Street, in the Sydney CBD, which marked the beginning of Sportsgirl's growth and development across Australia and launched the sought after household name that we know today.

Under new management by the Sussan Corporation, in 2000 Sportsgirl launched a new look for its stores. The year 2003 was a big year for the corporation, which saw it unleash a revamped and irreverent website experience onto the Internet and in November, CEO Naomi Milgrom became the sole owner of the Sussan Retail Group, which includes Sportsgirl. Under Naomi's leadership, the brand jumped into new and exciting challenges, such as the opening of its first ever accessory concept store at Chermside in Queensland and its partnership with The Butterfly Foundation in 2007, which helps to raise awareness and funds to assist those suffering from eating disorders.

Using design and lifestyle marketing for the emerging youth market, Sportsgirl continues to develop its distinctive brand identity centered on the idea of the boutique as a site of leisure and entertainment specifically aimed at young women.

In September 2008, Sportsgirl's Super-flagship opened its doors to reveal an exciting, ever-changing, interactive world-class retail environment. The new Sportsgirl space, designed by internationally renowned UK architects HMKM and located in Bourke Street, Melbourne, is a perennial hive of activity, transforming the shopping experience in Australia forever. Sportsgirl is truly the boutique that became a major fashion brand and Australian icon.
