I feel like I've finally found my true calling in life
Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) December 1, 2008
November is Celebrate Empty Nester Month and Scottsdale mom, Beth Southworth, is celebrating in a very public way. Her new website, emtnester.com, is a lighthearted and informative online gathering spot that addresses the many concerns and issues facing parents whose kids have grown and moved out.
Along with the Emtnester home page, blog categories range from the whimsical (the antics of the family dog, or living with the consequences of "senior" moments), to the heartfelt (unexpected emotions over trivial events, or how to reconnect with your spouse and adult family members).
The ongoing antics of the "unofficial" Chicago Cubs mascot and family golden retriever, Wrigley (born 9-27-07), and the belief that her dog was put on this earth as the final linchpin needed for the Chicago Cubs to win the World Series...well maybe next year.
Vacations with my Sister
The Circle of Escape: planning for vacations with her sister, June, happily vacation together, wine-induced depression once the vacation is over; then starting to plan for the next vacation.
Sharing some of her deepest, unexpected thoughts with complete strangers over the internet sure beats talking to herself and the dog all day long!
With a little help from online friends, Beth explores new ideas for beauty, fashion and lifestyle improvements to complement her new 'Emtnester', 50-year-old status.
The inability to stay focused for any length of time is a discouraging aspect to aging..."Oh, Marvin Gaye is on the radio singing, 'Mercy, Mercy'; wait...what was I saying earlier?"
Southworth, the mother of three, knew she needed a way to fill her childless days after youngest daughter, Laura, left home this fall to attend college in Pennsylvania. She created the space as a way to reconnect with herself and with others in the same situation. "I feel like I've finally found my true calling in life," says Southworth. "I find blogging about being an empty nester and hearing how other people feel very rewarding."
Emtnester.com is the creation of Beth Southworth, a former project manager of a major Southwest real estate development company and mother of three grown children. She left the corporate world four years ago to pursue several volunteer positions all having some sort of connection to her youngest daughter. Her volunteer duties ended with her daughter graduating this year and going off to college, but her new life began as she refluffed the nest, put on a pot of coffee and launched a meeting place for other empty nesters also rediscovering themselves post-kids.
