DSS Corporation, (http://www.equature.com) is proud to announce its participation in NENA's NG Partner Program (http://www.NENA.org). The National Emergency Number Association sponsors the program "To develop, coordinate, and integrate the foundation for an evolved, fully-functional, 'Next Generation E9-1-1' system..." The list of more than 40 companies that participate in the group reads like a "who's who" in the Public Safety community, and also includes a number of important technology companies that have heretofore not been involved in that community.
The current 911 system was not designed to handle the highly mobile public communications technology employed in today's wireless multimedia world. It became clear that the 911 system needed to evolve too. The public must be able to communicate with the 911 center not only by voice, but also through text and multimedia messaging, including pictures and video. In addition, emergency medical data and even automated vehicle crash data need to be handled by the PSAP. An infrastructure is needed to facilitate all this, and to evolve as the public communications environment evolves.
NENA founded the NG Partner Program to bring together the highly diverse group of companies and agencies that will play a critical part in this infrastructure evolution. The mission is to "establish a voluntary, open, unified approach to enable Next Generation E9-1-1 systems and services." DSS will actively participate in the various working groups aimed at defining the Next Generation 911 technology environment.
As a provider of Public Safety voice recording solutions for more than 20 years, DSS has participated in the changes that have brought the 911 community to the current crossroads.
