FreeNAS Titan Storage Appliance provides Security, Scalability, and Flexibility at a low Total Cost of Ownership

iXsystems delivers a robust Network-Attached Storage (NAS) appliance solution that allows for flexible, on the fly storage expansion for multi-server systems. The FreeNAS Titan storage appliance is capable of serving data to many servers or clients at one time.

The FreeNAS Titan is a FreeBSD-based NAS (Network-Attached Storage) server that also supports disk encryption and has basic snapshot capability. Easily one of the most mature open source NAS platforms, and backed by an active community, iXsystems' FreeBSD-based FreeNAS Titan covers just about all the bases for storage. FreeNAS Titan supports CIFS (Samba and Windows file sharing), FTP, NFS, AFP, RSYNC, iSCSI protocols, S.M.A.R.T., and local user authentication, with an attractive web management interface.

The FreeNAS software is installed on Compact Flash; the use of solid state memory to store the FreeNAS operating system results in a more reliable storage appliance. Additionally, the high-performance RAID controller contributes to the focus on reliability and fault-tolerance through support of RAID6 (and all other standard RAID levels) and is protected by 512MB of battery-backed on-board cache, for enhanced data protection.

"FreeNAS' renown and popularity is only increasing. After 2+ years of building numerous FreeNAS-based storage systems for various customers, it just made sense to bundle it as a complete turn-key solution. By selecting the appropriate battle-tested hardware, installing and configuring the software, and doing all of the pre-deployment setup work for the customer, we take all of the guesswork out of building a FreeNAS server. The end result is a low-cost, no hassle storage system, based on robust, stable, user-friendly, open source software," says Brett Davis, Director of Business Development, iXsystems.
