Bean Media Group, publishers of the award-winning series of business publications entitled 'Australias Best', have confirmed that Graham Chad, of Super Cheap Auto Group, has scooped the coveted 'Australia's Best Platinum Award'. This is contested between companies who are featured in the highly-regarded business magazines and only goes to ones which demonstrate effective supply chain strategies. This is an important award for the Australian Company.

With a diverse range of products and stores across both Australia and New Zealand, Super Cheap Auto Group's (ASX:SUL) consistently well stocked shelves are testament to a world class supply chain.

As the leading retailer of automotive, boating, camping and fishing products across Australasia, SUL takes a proactive approach to supply chain management and supplier partnerships. SUL's General Manager Group Logistics, Graham Chad, has said that the goal is to develop supply chain methods that respond to customer demands and reduce the cost of doing business, while building the infrastructure to support business growth.

"In the retail world, the customer ultimately drives how you operate," Graham explained. "For this reason, we have developed a supply chain approach that not only offers choice, but has the ability to accelerate or decelerate as customer behaviour demands."

Graham believes this strategic approach to supply chain management is a key driver for SUL's business operations, with considerable investment made in the Group Logistics area. "We recently completed an intensive, 18-month refurbishment and replacement program across our entire Distribution Centre (DC) network," Graham states. "This means the Group now has the infrastructure to support expansion into new retail categories, as seen through our recent Goldcross Cycles acquisition, while still facilitating an increasingly efficient distribution network."

While investment and strategic focus are important for a successful supply chain, Graham said there is another key element - supplier relationships built on mutual success. "We have a unique company culture that emphasises true 'partnerships' with our trading partners (suppliers). They are a core part of what we do," Graham explained.

"We've worked hard over the past five years to improve collaboration with our trading partners, demonstrating a commitment to open communication, ethical dealings and co-operation," continued Graham. "This has allowed us to enhance our forward planning, align our key performance indicators with trading partners', and develop joint market share growth plans that include logistics development agendas."

The Platinum Supply Chain Award by Australia's Best Magazine has been confirmed by Bean Media Group and Super Cheap Auto Group have accepted the award.
