Clash Magazine was last night given top honour and crowned 'Magazine of the Year 2008' at the Radisson Hotel, Glasgow, Scotland, celebrating its publishing excellence and commitment to music.
Dundee, Scotland (PRWEB) December 2, 2008 -- Clash Magazine was last night given top honour and crowned 'Magazine of the Year 2008' at the Radisson Hotel, Glasgow, Scotland, celebrating its publishing excellence and commitment to music.
In addition, Clash won the 'Consumer Magazine of the Year' award at the illustrious event, which gathered the cream of the country's publishing sector.
The judges announced that Clash had shortlisted for every category and the top award - Magazine of the Year - demonstrated the quality of the title and how it stood out on newsstands throughout the UK. This recognition is the latest in a long line of honours bestowed upon the multi award-winning music magazine and digital music group.
Clash is an independent music, fashion, film and entertainment magazine with a unique style and identity. The award follows a year of high profile cover exclusives including The Killers, Oasis, Coldplay, Kings Of Leon and Kanye West, further elevating Clash as a unique and iconic publication
Clash is available in WH Smiths, Borders, HMV, Zavvi and independent newsagents throughout the UK. Clash is also distributed internationally, reaching over thirty countries.
Collecting the awards on the night were two of Clash's founding directors, John O'Rourke and Jon Paul Kitching. Commenting on this latest achievement, O'Rourke said: "Naturally we are thrilled and delighted to be named Magazine of the Year, and this gives us the motivation to keep driving the brand forward into 2009 and beyond."
In London on the same night, Clash was nominated for Magazine of the Year at the Record Of The Day music and journalism awards, a title that it won in 2005. Clash has built an enviable reputation for providing in-depth music news, reviews, interviews and features.
Clash recently launched its online entertainment hub ClashMusic.com, which already attracts 100,000 unique monthly visitors. Earlier this year, Scottish Enterprise boosted the Clash Music group with a Regional Selective Assistance grant of £230,000 earlier this year to create additional jobs and greatly expand its digital platform.
Clash will be celebrating these awards and the success of 2008 with an end of year party on Wednesday 3rd December. The Clash Revue will take place at Proud Galleries in Camden, London, and will feature performances by Simian Mobile Disco, David Holmes, Buraka Som Sistema, XX Teens, Beardyman and Baddies. Tickets are available from seetickets.com and from ClashMusic's website, where you can also buy tickets for a wide variety of other live music tickets.
