Jan Hice pairs striking photography with reflective essays in her inspirational composition

"Follow your dreams." In today's busy, multi-tasking world, it's become a clichéd command, too often overshadowed by the countless tasks and details that cloud our everyday lives. But for artist Jan Hice, it became a mantra--one that led her to the fulfillment of her own long-standing dream with the publication of Soul Work: Excerpts from My Journey (Hearts Joy, LLC, 2008). Its companion calendar for 2009 is slated to follow this month.

Designed to grace the coffee tables and hearts of anyone who appreciates beauty and art, this inspirational photo book is the culmination of the author's long journey of self-exploration, worldwide travel, and rewarding relationships. In this masterful medley of striking photography and reflective essays, the reader alternates between full-color visual scenes and contemplative elements. Leading us on an insightful voyage to such scenic destinations as Rome, Italy, Paris, France, and Hawaii, the book teaches the reader to find significance in even the most ordinary details, transforming the mundane into the magical.

At the heart of Soul Work is an important message that too often goes unspoken or unheard--a call to the reader to identify what motivates them, what drives them, and to make that the focal point of their life. Through the author's exotic images and philosophical musings, readers are encouraged to find new significance in even the smallest details.

About the Author
Although she has a sharp mind for business, Jan Hice has always been an artist at heart. Growing up in Florida, she quickly developed a passion for nature, and learned to capture the beauty of her surroundings with film. While studying for her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and pursuing her Master's at Emory University, Jan seized the opportunity to travel the world and experience the richness of international cultures and languages.

Even during her years as a corporate sales executive, Jan was always driven by her passion for photography, writing, and all things artistic. Inspired by an article in O, The Oprah Magazine in 1999, she made a conscious decision to not put off her dream for one more day. A true labor of love, Soul Work was completed several years later and was published in 2008. Already, it has touched hundreds of readers who have found the courage to make their own dreams a priority rather than an afterthought.

Currently living and working in South Florida, Jan just completed a 2009 calendar based on Soul Work, and is at work on a second book. Soul Work will be featured, along with the author, at the 25th Anniversary Miami Book Fair from November 14th-16th, 2008.
