The Book People -- the UK's largest supplier of specialty, top quality books -- selected the Percussion Content Management System to manage five online properties.

Our dependency on IT and Design staff to create new web sites and to manage editorially rich content on our existing web sites was limiting our ability to move quickly on new market opportunities

Percussion Software, a provider of web Content Management System (CMS) software and services for managing, analyzing and improving online business results, announced today that The Book People selected the Percussion Content Management System (formerly Rhythmyx) to increase their speed to market, encourage user participation, and ultimately, increase revenue. Implementation of the Percussion Content Management System has begun and is expected to be completed in early 2009.

The Book People are the UK's largest online supplier of specialty, top quality books. In a business where a Best Seller title change can happen on a daily basis, speed to market is particularly important to The Book People. Offering the Merchandisers and Copywriters the agility to quickly and easily promote their hottest books and share user generated reviews online is a key business driver. As The Book People reviewed various CMS vendors, it became apparent that Percussion CMS provided them with the ability to pounce on new book release opportunities. Percussion allows marketers to quickly promote -- or retire, in the case of a declining title -- books, and in so doing, shorten The Book People's time to success.

The solution will be used in conjunction with The Book People's ecommerce technology, speeding up the management process around marketing and editorial web content. The Percussion Content Management System will manage the following properties:

"Our dependency on IT and Design staff to create new web sites and to manage editorially rich content on our existing web sites was limiting our ability to move quickly on new market opportunities," stated Scott Scott, The Book People IT Director. "Our requirement to increase speed to market becomes even more important as our online business continues to grow. We wanted an enterprise strength CMS that is agile, flexible and easy to use. The Percussion Content Management System will strengthen our ebusiness capabilities by giving our marketing and editorial staff a quick and effective tool for managing our online presence. Our ability to increase speed to market has direct impact on our most important metric -- the ability to grow revenue."

"Percussion's focus is on helping our customers drive more revenue," said Joe Wykes, President of Percussion. "Online Retail is an extremely competitive market. To increase profitable traffic and build a loyal customer base, organisations must do more than just provide catalogues. Online retailers need to find a way to motivate a browser into becoming a buyer -- and that is some of the value we provide. We are proud to help The Book People provide greater editorial and social content and ultimately grow revenues."
