The APD (Air Passenger Duty) increase is a whopping 50%. This doubling of tax will hit all passengers, but in particular those flying in premium seats who will have to pay double the fee. This will mean that first class and business-class passengers travelling more than 6000 miles will have an extra £170 each to pay.

Adam Abadi of Only Exclusive Travel commented "I fear that this unpopular hike in APD will mean that places like the Seychelles, Thailand and Australia will suffer, and it may result in empty resorts and deserted beaches. There is only so much the industry as a whole can take, and this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for many tour operators. Travel companies and holidaymakers are already suffering from a downturn in business with all of the effects of the current credit crunch and volatile fuel prices, and yet Alistair Darling has revealed an additional tax on families wishing to escape misery at home".

Increases in long-haul charges announced by Mr Darling last week have enraged airline companies and travel operators alike.

Adam continues "our exacting standards mean that only the most exclusive resorts and hotels worldwide are offered to our discerning clientele. Seychelles is one destination we are able to offer the ultimate in relaxation and unparalleled paradise. Many of our clients book premium seats to travel to long-haul destinations, but a couple will see no benefit for the additional £340 bill they will receive courtesy of Mr Darling. Premium seats already have premium price tags. Why should those prepared to spend more be penalised a second time?"

Seychelles, 4 degrees south of the equator in the Indian Ocean, offers one of the most beautiful collections of unspoilt, granite and coral islands. The islands are an extraordinary treasure trove of adventure and breathtaking beauty. An amazing array of rare species of flora and fauna adorn the lush tropical landscape whilst the white sandy beaches are pristine, and the aqua, crystal clear waters inviting and warm. It is an exquisite retreat ideal for unwinding from the stresses of everyday life where one can easily leave the rest of the world behind. If you would like to escape on a holiday destination of timeless beauty, then Seychelles is exceptional and Only Exclusive Travel would be delighted to arrange a bespoke holiday itinerary for you.
