Sealed Air Automation to Feature Two Unique Packaging Systems at ProMat 2009

Measuring and controlling packaging costs are essential in today's economy. New to the U.S. market, I-Pack® and Ultipack® tray forming - product protection - lidding systems enable packagers to precisely calculate per-unit shipping costs and improve packaging performance simultaneously.

Measuring and controlling void fill usage in the packaging process has been an inexact science at best - until now. Sealed Air Automation's new I-Pack® and Ultipack® packaging automation systems enable packagers to precisely manage per-unit shipping costs, leading to immediate cost reduction and setting the stage for continuous process improvement. Both systems will be on display at ProMat 2009, which takes place January 12-15 at McCormick Place South in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The two packaging automation systems, which were introduced to the U.S. market in Q3 2008, are designed for high volume pick and pack operations and are ideal for books, DVD's, and a host of other items. By eliminating the need for void fill materials, which are extremely difficult to dispense uniformly, I-Pack® and Ultipack® automation produce shipping units of measurable, consistent cost - as well as consistent performance.

Both systems include simple yet extremely durable tray forming and lidding modules designed for 24/7/365 use. The difference between the two lies in the approach to product protection and containment. I-Pack® adds a "void elimination" module that compresses the tray height to the level of the tallest item, creating a shipping unit of the smallest possible size. Ultipack® adds a "void containment" module which automatically inserts a flexible corrugated wedge into the filled tray, securely protecting the items and again eliminating the need for inner packing materials.

I-Pack® and Ultipack® can be integrated with all ERP/WMS system software and any warehouse equipment, including conveyors, printers, scales, and sorters. The systems can also operate in stand-alone mode.

Systems will be on display at Sealed Air Automation's ProMat exhibit in Booth #3821. Contact Lou Suffern at 708-352-8700 to schedule an appointment for an exclusive demonstration.
