Intelligent Mobotix IP video surveillance system installed by TecPro at Anchorage International Airport Fuel Facility

MOBOTIX, provider of advanced IP based high-resolution Megapixel video solutions, today announced that the Anchorage International Airport fuel facility has been equipped with a Mobotix IP video surveillance system. Surveillance on the perimeter and inside pump stations was needed to observe security and safety vulnerabilities.

Mobotix IP cameras are a good match for this type of installation since each camera can cover a much wider area than a traditional surveillance system and are extremely weather resistant. TecPro, the leading security systems firm in Alaska, installed the cost efficient and rugged surveillance system, which met all the stringent Homeland Security requirements. The system is completely designed around Mobotix IP video cameras and networked with fiber optics.

"Outside monitoring of the facility's activities is now possible with more rapid addressing of issues in the workplace before they become critical," said Scott Rees of TecPro. "Two 4 million-gallon fuel storage tanks were constructed this past year and all the work was monitored and recorded in real time. Liability is undoubtedly reduced when everyone knows his or her actions are being recorded."

Mobotix IP video cameras are equipped with wide-angle lenses and Megapixel technology, which allows the user to view and record incredibly detailed video in high resolution. This allows the operator to zoom in on distant objects while retaining a crisp, detailed image.

"The Mobotix cameras made a huge difference in the way we patrol and monitor the area," said Marc McCafferty, Facility Manager at the fuel facility "We used to have to drive or walk around the premises, sometimes forcing us to leave the security office unmanned. Now we can get a very comprehensive view of the entire facility from the comfort of our office, drastically reducing response time and required staff."

The harsh Alaskan climate was another concern. Mobotix cameras do not require any lens or positioning motors. Without any moving parts, maintenance is reduced to a minimum. The cameras can function in a temperature range from -30° to +60°C (-22° to +140°F) without heating required or a fan, and at only 3 watts power consumption.

"The image resolution we get from the Mobotix cameras is very impressive, especially the recorded footage," explained Marc McCafferty. "Even during our frequent and violent, Alaskan blizzards the Mobotix cameras are able to focus and give us crisp video feeds of the targets."
