Organize.com (http://www.organize.com), a leading retailer of home storage and organization consumer products, was recently selected as one of Internet Retailer's Hot 100 Best Retail Websites for 2009. Internet retailers were chosen because they know how to serve and inspire website shoppers. Today, the key factors that make for successful e-commerce sites include merchandising, features, functions and customer usability.

"It's more than the look and feel of the site," says Deborah Shearer, VP of Marketing and Merchandising. "The online customer is savvy and expects more from internet retailers. Connecting with customers through social networking and creative marketing is a must."

Organize.com was one of the 27 retailers in the specialty/non-apparel category of this year's Hot 100 who know their customers, and show that in the ways they present and market themselves and communicate with their consumers. This year, Organize.com redesigned site features so that customers' needs are specifically addressed by allowing visitors to filter products by price, color or brand. "This created more user-friendly landing pages and increased ease of use for customers," said Kevin Watts, Director of E-commerce.

Organize.com also offers an online closet design tool that gives shoppers the ability to create a virtual closet, which was new to their site in 2008. How-to videos, shop by color and new registries, including wedding and dorm, support the company's philosophy of making life easy for the consumer. The company is also using Facebook and MySpace to extend its brand via social networking and posts daily to the Mrs. Organized blog.

With over 12,000 products online, product and definitive sub-categories, shop by brand, easy to navigate tool bar and extensive merchandising efforts allow customers to easily browse the site and shop for products.

"This is an excellent site in that it has kept its assortment appropriately sized and well organized so that it is easy to shop and customers are helped throughout the process," says Lee Diercks, partner and managing director of consulting firm Clear Thinking Group LLC. "A lot of other retailers try to cram in too much product and make it difficult to shift through all the options."

The Internet Retailer Hot 100 are leading the way with techniques and innovations that make online shopping more enjoyable, exciting and easier for consumers as well as more rewarding for merchants themselves.
