Be it dense, choppy, wispy or side-swept, there's a fringe out there to suit your style.

Baby it's cold outside
Girls who are ready to wrap up for the winter but don't want to abandon their stylish wardrobes could take tips from the A-list on how to keep warm and still look stylish. Glamour magazine notes that Jessica Alba was recently snapped in an on-trend wide-brimmed floppy hat which was in line with this season's trend of 70s-inspired clobber. She completed the look with a woolly cardigan with gathered sleeves and an orange scarf. Meanwhile, Jessica Simpson proved that winter wear can work just as effectively on the red carpet, where she recently posed in a grey wool shawl with a fun collar. Elsewhere, popstar Pink went for the layered look on a recent day out, with a long grey cape over a warm top, while Hilary Duff made sure she put on a bright and beautiful scarf with her black dress before a night out. Finally, Naomi Watts kept her feet snug in a pair of fur line leather boots when she went shopping earlier in the month, while Claudia Schiffer went for a pair of on-trend moccasin ankle boots.
If summer was all about long flowing wavy locks then the hair style trend for autumn is the more sculpted style of adding a fringe. According to Glamour magazine, all the celebrities are getting carried away with the hair style statement and there is guaranteed to be a fringe out there to suit every face shape. While model Daisy Lowe has gone for a soft and wispy fringe cut shorter to show off her large eyes, Mischa Barton has opted for a longer and thinner fringe that complements her strong jaw. Actress Michelle Williams has a rounder face but looks great with a micro-feathered fringe that adds angle and to her short crop while Nicole Ritchie - who also has a round face - has added depth with long bangs worn swept to the side. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton shows off her cheekbones with a fringe that finishes below her brow bone and Peaches Geldof goes for a rockier look with a long thick one that has been cut wide. Glamour notes: "Be it dense, choppy, wispy or side-swept, there's a fringe out there to suit your style."
A black and white ball
Despite several fashion experts telling us that purple is the colour of autumn, the celebs at last night's US Glamour awards decided the season was more of a monochrome affair. According to Heat, Sarah Michelle Gellar wore a floaty white halterneck dress with her hair tied in a loose ponytail. However, she hardened up her girly look with a pair of t-bar strappy stilettos that were reminiscent of the 1930s flapper era. Meanwhile, former Will & Grace star Debra Messing wore a daring strapless black frock which was covered in sequins and had starched black netting around the hem. She opted for this season's key shoe trend - a pair of black satin peep-toe heels - to complete her look. Nicole Kidman thanked her husband, country singer Keith Urban, as she picked up an award for the work she has carried out as a United Nations goodwill ambassador. She also joined in with the night's unofficial monochrome theme, in a white gown with lace detailing and a matching bow tied round her arm.
New looks for the New Year
Girls who feel they want to take on a more stylish change this for 2009 than the traditional new year's resolution may want to take their lead from the A-list. According to Glamour, a group of celebs have already unveiled striking new looks, which could certainly be a more entertaining way to see in next year than vowing to lose weight or cut down on shoe shopping. At the recent Black Ball Benefit, filmstar and new mum Jessica Alba showed off her new look - a sleek dark brown hairdo with a blunt fringe, which is a key look for this season. She wore a long black dress that was embellished with a corsage and gold chains and hardly looks like a woman who gave birth just months ago. Meanwhile, popstar Lilly Allen has also had a new do, with her usually long locks now 0cut into a layered bob which is reminiscent of the 1960s mod style. She also went for a new fringe which frames her face. Even Brad Pitt, who has traditionally left girls swooning with his blonde hair, has had it dyed a dark brown and has allowed his beard to go grey. It looks like 2009 really will be a time for change.
