San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) December 12, 2008
As the holidays approach, Mary McCarthy, the owner of At Home Pet Sitting San Francisco, invites everyone to join in her Animal Wishes and Dreams Pet Food, Pet Toys and Pet Supplies collection drive benefiting the pets at Pets Unlimited Adoption Center in San Francisco and providing items to help the animals be comfortable, safe and happy till each one finds a loving forever home.
Every pet wishes and dreams of living in a warm, happy home with a guardian that provides the loving care they need and provide for them the rest of their lives. Too often that does not happen. Every year millions of cats and dogs are surrendered to shelters, abandoned on the streets, or simply get lost and never reunited with their owners. Millions of animals are put to sleep every year by shelters because there are too many animals and not enough money and room to care for them till they are adopted.
Pets Unlimited Adoption Center is doing what it can to reduce the number of shelter animals being euthanized in the Bay Area. They help rescue and save hundreds of animals each year, often taking in pets whose time is running out in other shelters. One of these wonderful cats now lives with Mary McCarthy. Her 1 yr old cat, Tiger Lily was found on the streets in Hayward and stayed in a shelter there before being transferred to Pets Unlimited Adoption Center and now brings much joy to Mary's home.
Know those toys that Prince has grown bored with, that food that you bought a case of and now Princess turns her nose up at, that harness that Rocky took one look at and said no way Jose, that collar that Rex outgrew, that dog bed Fluffy won't sleep on because she rather sleep on your bed, those clothes that no longer fit Cupcake? Now all these items can be put to good use. Donate these items to Pets Unlimited Adoption Center. All these toys, food and supplies can help cats and dogs waiting to find the new love of their life and live in a wonderful new home. In the meantime they look forward to all the goodies that you are going to share with them.
This holiday program created by At Home Pet Sitting SF will run until December 20, 2008. As part of this program, At Home Pet Sitting San Francisco is reaching out to their clients and pet lovers throughout San Francisco and encouraging everyone to collect and donate items for this worthy cause. Items such as unopened pet food and treats, plus the following new or gently used items: toys, treat dispensers, blankets, towels, scratching posts, kitty condos, pet beds, pet clothes, collars, harnesses, leashes, clickers and small pet carriers are being solicited. Sometimes pets will show little to no interest in some of the toys and other items pet owners purchase for their pets. Now needy pets can enjoy these same items. Email Mary McCarthy at mmccarthy at athomepetsittingsf dot com or call her at 415-871-5559 to check on possible pickup of donations in her service areas or if you have a business that would like to get involved. You can also drop off the items at Cheeko B Pet Boutique at 611 Post St San Francisco, CA 94109, 415-440-1221 or Pets Unlimited Adoption Center at 2343 Fillmore St San Francisco, CA.94115, 415-568-3058.
Any items donated that Pets Unlimited Adoption Center is unable to use will be redistributed to Vet SOS, a program that provides free veterinary care for the companion animals of homeless San Franciscans and to Pets Are Wonderful Support - PAWS, a program that provides support to HIV and AIDS clients and their pets.
Through the Animal Wishes and Dreams campaign, At Home Pet Sitting SF wants to help bring some happiness to homeless cats and dogs and remind the public of the important roles shelters like Pets Unlimited serve. This is a great opportunity for all animal lovers, pet owner or not, to get involved and make a difference. The donations collected will support rescued animals and allow Pets Unlimited to be able to helps even more pets. They provide extensive medical care, and behavioral modification when needed, so that every adoptable pet can be as happy and healthy as possible when they are placed in their new forever home.

Mary McCarthy is a professional pet sitter, who is bonded, and insured. She has been trained, in pet first aid by the American Red Cross. Mary McCarthy states, "Taking care of a pet to me is much more than changing their water, giving them fresh food and cleaning up after their pet waste. They also need attention and tender loving care. I customize my visits with the pets. Every pet is different and responds differently. What one pet may love, another may hate. I try to make the pet's time during the client's absence as stress free and enjoyable as possible."
