Converge Joins Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher Program

Helping enterprise customers donate "like-new" computers to good causes.

Peabody, MA (PRWEB) December 11, 2008 -- Converge, a leading supply chain partner for technology-driven companies, today announces it has joined the Community Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) Americas program to help its business customers donate refurbished computers to schools, charities and other good causes.

The new program enhances Converge's existing ability to install genuine Windows operating systems and Office applications onto refurbished laptops and PCs. The Microsoft software is loaded onto computers processed by Converge's IT Asset Disposition group, which helps large corporations safely - and now philanthropically - dispose of electronic equipment no longer needed by these organizations.

"Many of our customers would like to donate their used gear to local schools and charities," says Chris Adam, director of IT Asset Disposition Services for Converge. "It's our business to make sure these computers are in perfect working order and are legally ready to be transferred by the previous owner. With the Microsoft Community program, we can install fully licensed versions of Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Professional and Microsoft Office 2003 Standard. It's a great deal for everyone."

All computers going through the Converge recovery and disposition centers receive multipoint quality inspections and secure hard-drive erasure. Converge customers receive thorough chain-of-custody reports that help them satisfy industry compliance mandates such as HIPAA and corporate governance regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley.
