Ireland's Top Business School First in Country to Recognize New Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic

University College Dublin (UCD) Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, Ireland's leading business school and research center, announced today that it is the first institution in the country to recognize Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, a new computer-based academic English language test that measures the language skills of non-native English speakers. Consistently ranked in the "Financial Times" top 100 global full-time master's of business administration programs, the postgraduate school is one of 25 worldwide to have attained the "triple crown" of accreditation from accrediting organizations in the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom.

PTE Academic will deliver real-life measures of test takers' language proficiency to organizations requiring academic-level English. The test is designed to better predict the ability of test takers to function in an academic environment where English is the language of instruction.

PTE Academic received the endorsement of the prestigious Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®), owner of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®) and is being developed and offered to students in collaboration with GMAC®. The test will be launched internationally in October 2009.
