Boston, MA (PRWEB) December 13, 2008
On September 25, 2008 MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) launched it's new and improved website, http://www.csail.mit.edu. The new site offers an updated design and new technology that fits the spirit of innovation and forward thinking that CSAIL represents, further setting them apart from their competition.
The site was developed through a collaborative effort between Stoltze Design for web site design and flash animation development, Indigo Digital for website production and programming, Nimble Partners for information architecture, and Libretto for content development.
CSAIL's existing website was no longer meeting their internal or external needs. The site had little brand identity, information architecture that was no longer applicable to the organization, and was not easy to maintain. CSAIL was looking to refresh the site to serve as a media-rich communication tool that showcased the work and contributions of its members and enhanced the site's usefulness for lab members and students. This included the implementation of a new content management system, the ability to manage student and faculty information pages, events, projects, awards, and share internal resources.
CSAIL contracted Stoltze Design to assemble a team of experts to design, develop, and create the site. Stoltze, who handled all the creative aspects of the site, looked to their partners Indigo Digital, Nimble Partners, and Libretto to contribute to the project and develop the new functionality, architecture, and content. In keeping with MIT's commitment to open source initiatives, Indigo Digital developed the site based on the Drupal community management system (CMS). Drupal's framework allowed the development team to build a site in 6 months that would have otherwise taken closer to a year.
Phase II of this project began in October 2008 and will continue to add further enhancements to the site.
