An award-winning novelist, Bruns is the subject a December's "mystery traveler" article. In the full-page article, Don talks about visiting exotic locales to research his mystery series, which features protagonist Mick Sever, a rock and roll journalist who manages to find trouble in these island paradises.

In the question and answer interview, Don also talks about his forthcoming novel, Bahama Burnout, which Oceanview Publishing will release in March 2009.

According to Bruns, "My books are intended to take people on tours of these tropical places. I wanted my most recent book release, St. Barts Breakdown, to be the equivalent of a $4000 vacation to St. Barts all for the price of a novel.
