R2i Selected by Forbes to Develop New Multimedia Program Guide

The new program guide will add value for Forbes' online visitors who are looking for business and investment news and have come to expect multimedia content and social networking functionality from their favorite news sources

R2integrated (R2i), a digital marketing and technology firm, today announced that they have been selected by Forbes.com to revamp the site's Video Network Program Guide and player. Forbes.com, home page for the world's business leaders and the leading business news Web site, attracts approximately 20 million unique visitors each month.

The project involved a challenging mix of technologies and inherent integration complexities. R2i worked closely with the Forbes.com team to create an agile, high-resolution video player that could reap the benefits of optimized searches and social behaviors.

The upgraded Video Network Program Guide, built on the Adobe Flash platform, is now fully integrated with their ad and media servers to take advantage of social behaviors, such as commenting, rating and sharing on sites like Facebook. Metadata is now associated with the videos and captions so that they are fully searchable. R2i designed the video player and program guide with metatag-based intelligence that enables Forbes.com to categorize its content, suggest related videos, and serve ads that are aligned with the user's selections.

The larger, HD format provides a more impactful visual environment, as well as higher fidelity for advertisers who provide commercials shot in HD. Users can not only search by each individual show, but also by "most watched", "top shows", "all new", "topics", and "editor's choice."

"The new program guide will add value for Forbes' online visitors who are looking for business and investment news and have come to expect multimedia content and social networking functionality from their favorite news sources," said Chris Chodnicki, CTO of R2integrated. "Forbes' advertisers will also benefit from the underlying technology that will make it easier to target an elusive business audience with relevant messages."
