When Ashridge is considering a candidate for admission to its MBA, the informative score reports from PTE Academic will provide the school with detailed information needed to guide program development or make admissions decisions
London (PRWEB) December 15, 2008
Ashridge, one of the world's leading business schools, is the first in the United Kingdom to join the growing list of prestigious academic institutions worldwide that are recognizing Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, the new computer-based academic English language test that measures the language skills of non-native English speakers. Ashridge is a member of the Graduate Management Admission Council® (GMAC®), owner of the Graduate Management Admission Test® (GMAT®), which recently endorsed PTE Academic.
Ashridge has worked with individuals and organizations worldwide in executive education, research and consulting for fifty years. In the 2008 "Financial Times" rankings for tailored executive education programs, Ashridge topped the list as number one in the United Kingdom.
"At Ashridge, we can tailor our programs to meet the needs of organizations and individuals," said Amy Armstrong, Director of Marketing for the school's Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program. "PTE Academic score data on the enabling language skills, such as fluency, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, gives us a great tool to assess the language abilities of incoming MBA applicants to ensure they can interact at the levels expected in a small, experienced group of professionals on the Ashridge MBA."
As the worldwide global leader in publishing and assessment for education, Pearson combined the power of comprehensive field tests, in-depth research and proven, proprietary automated scoring technologies to develop PTE Academic. The test will fill a critical gap by providing a state-of-the-art assessment that accurately measures the English language speaking, listening, reading and writing abilities of non-native speakers.
PTE Academic will deliver real-life measures of test takers' language proficiency to organizations requiring academic-level English. The test is designed to better predict the ability of test takers to function in an academic environment where English is the language of instruction.
"When Ashridge is considering a candidate for admission to its MBA, the informative score reports from PTE Academic will provide the school with detailed information needed to guide program development or make admissions decisions," said Mark Anderson, President, Pearson Language Tests. "We look forward to working with Ashridge and other GMAC® member institutions around the world as they use PTE Academic to measure academic English skills."
PTE Academic is being developed and offered to students in collaboration with GMAC®. The test will be launched internationally in October 2009.
