Head Lice is a Common Risk for those Traveling this Holiday Season Says Lice Treatment Center

The Lice Treatment Center helps prevent and remove head lice infestations using a natural and direct approach that has been successfully used by many.

Easton, CT (PRWEB) December 17, 2008 -- As people pack the airports, buses and train stations this holiday, there is one thing they won't want to bring home with them - head lice. Yet, many will do just that. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention there are an estimated 6 to 12 million head lice infestations each year, just in America. Yet, it's a worldwide problem, making the risks of becoming infested real, even for travelers.

"People are familiar with how children seem to come home from school with head lice from time to time, but it is not usually on their mind when they travel," explains Liz Solovay, president of The Lice Treatment Center. "It should be, however, because their head comes in contact with many unfamiliar objects, and around a lot of people. Vacations can be a prime target for head lice infestations."

When people travel, they often stay in hotels, using someone else's pillows, blankets, furniture, and even towels. All of these items, being typically shared with many people, one after another, can harbor head lice and head lice eggs (nits), just waiting for the next unsuspecting head to come along. All one has to do is think about how many times they have been on an airplane or bus and rested their head on the back of the seat or on a pillow supplied by the airline. With so many people using the items, it becomes easy to see how head lice could be spread.

One comforting thing to keep in mind is that hygiene is not a factor in head lice. They are parasitic insects that crawl and are spread through direct contact. They feed off of human blood and live close to the human scalp.

The Lice Treatment Center offers a prevention pack, as well as offering treatment for head lice. Their services focus on taking an all-natural remedies approach to head lice removal. Many people each year opt for over the counter head lice removal solutions; however, the problem is that they don't remove the nit, or egg. Therefore, another batch can hatch just days later.

To fully remove all of the head lice, The Lice Treatment Center offers a service of completely going through the hair to remove all the head lice and eggs. They also have a full line of natural head lice treatment products, including shampoo, oil, conditioner, furniture spray, and more. Their natural remedies are made with ingredients such as peppermint oil, tea tree oil, cinnamon leaf oil and other unique essential oil combinations.

Travelers can reduce their risks of being infested with head lice by keeping their hair up, wearing a hat, and not sharing things like combs and brushes. Still, some people will come home with head lice. Luckily, there are natural remedies for head lice treatment that can take care of that.

"A little head lice prevention will go a long way," adds Solovay. "Natural remedies are also the best way to go, for those that do get infested. The harsh chemical solutions that are available often contain ingredients that the head lice have developed a resistance to."
