Development Firm President/CEO Looks Forward to Continued Success in 2009

Following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to provide unique and timeless housing solutions to homebuyers.

based business owner Geoffrey Ruttenberg has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season as his local residential development company, The Brixton Group, Ltd., marks the close of its 12th year in operation. Despite a declining economy, The Brixton Group ( has continued to thrive with the success of its newest West Loop housing development, C/A23 and talks of expansion into other urban markets in 2009.

Ruttenberg credits his company's success to the longstanding relationships The Brixton Group has established with local Chicago businesses and clients. "Our clients and past developments provide the resume and consumer confidence for our future work. We work hard to ensure each client has a great experience by delivering results that exceed their expectations," said Ruttenberg. "The same goes for our business contacts. We work to maintain the long-term relationships we have established with our vendors and partners because many of our accomplishments wouldn't be possible without them."

Supporting the local communities where he builds homes through charity involvement is also an important component to Ruttenberg's success. The Brixton Group has partnered with The Boys and Girls Club of Chicago this holiday season to collect donations for their annual gift drive. Previously, the company, along with Ruttenberg, has provided donations to the local Red Cross and Coalition for the Homeless. Ruttenberg also gives continuous support through his family's charity, The Ruttenberg Foundation.

A third generation developer, Ruttenberg formed and founded The Brixton Group in 1996 as a residential real estate development company specializing in condominium conversions geared towards the first time homebuyer. Today, The Brixton Group spans the spectrum of product type, price points and purchaser demographics.

"My family has held an active role in the Chicago real estate market for more than six decades," Ruttenberg said of his family's long-standing presence on the Chicago development scene. "Following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather has been a rewarding experience, allowing me to provide unique and timeless housing solutions to homebuyers."

Most recently, New Homes named The Brixton Group's newest development, C/A23, Best New Chicago Mid-rise. This recognition, paired with acclaim the company has received for its involvement with famed architect Helmut Jahn in constructing the high-end 600 N. Fairbanks development, a 227-unit building located in the heart of Streeterville, has fostered areas of growth in other markets, including opportunities in Texas.

"At the end of the day, The Brixton Group creates functional, quality homes to provide buyers with a long-lasting investment. I believe people will always be looking for and expecting our formula for success: quality homes at value prices." Ruttenberg added, "Rather then getting into broker or pricing wars, The Brixton Group stands behind its products. That philosophy has helped us overcome the more challenging aspects of the market."
