Palo Alto, California (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) December 18, 2008 -- SonicSwap (www.sonicswap.com) announced today that Ted Cohen of TAG Strategic has joined SonicSwap's board of directors. Cohen brings with him over thirty years of experience in the music, entertainment and technology industries, and will help guide the company's direction in digital entertainment, and strategic partnerships.

Ted Cohen is co-founder of the TAG Strategic consulting firm, advising companies in digital media and entertainment across music, movies, television, mobile, infrastructure and media monetization. Until mid-2006, Cohen was Senior Vice President of Digital Distribution & Development for EMI Music where he was one of the very first major-label executives to embrace and support digital music distribution. In his role at EMI, Cohen oversaw worldwide digital business development for labels such as Capitol, Virgin, Angel/Blue Note, Parlophone and Chrysalis, and led the industry with new digital technologies and business models.

Prior to EMI, Cohen also served as Executive Vice President of Digital Music Network Inc., where he co-founded and served as Chairman of the groundbreaking Webnoize conferences. Cohen also held senior management positions at both Warner Bros. Records and Philips Media, and consulted for various entertainment, technology and new media organizations such as Amazon.com, Microsoft, Universal Studios New Media, DreamWorks Records, Liquid Audio, and Wherehouse Records/Checkout.com.

Cohen recently served as Chairman of the Mobile Entertainment Forum Americas board, and has, for the past ten years, chaired MidemNet, the international music/technology conference convened in Cannes each year. Cohen also serves on the NARAS (Grammy) Los Angeles chapter Board of Governors, as well as co-chairing the Grammy Tech Committee, and the Board of Directors for Imeem.

"SonicSwap has built the first direct connection between the real-world of music use in iTunes, and the social web." said Ted Cohen. "I am very excited about the business opportunities SonicSwap's music taste analysis and platform independent playlist sharing has to offer. They have only begun to scratch the surface of what their technology could do for the digital music industry."

"We are very fortunate to have Ted Cohen, with his industry experience and vision, on our Board of Directors," said Dan Skilken, founder, President and CEO of SonicSwap, Inc. "Ted brings to the board a deep understanding of how the music industry interacts with technology, an incredible strategic vision, and broad industry contacts that will help guide SonicSwap's product and revenue directions."
