The Parking Authority of the City of Elizabeth has awarded a bid to POM Inc. for up to 1,000 parking meters. The new digital mechanisms will upgrade the parking authority's existing parking meter housings.

At its December 10 commissioners' meeting, The Parking Authority of the City of Elizabeth, New Jersey, accepted the bid of POM Incorporated to deliver up to1,000 new digital parking meter mechanisms over the next few months. The new mechanisms will fit inside the parking authority's existing meter housings and feature a high-visibility enforcement signal, jam resistant coin chute, digital display, and the ability to be programmed and audited via infrared with a handheld pda. Made in POM's ISO 9001-2000 quality certified facility in Russellville, Arkansas, the meters meet the state's Buy American statute and are certified by the NJ State Supt. of Weights and Measures. "New digital mechanisms will help The Parking Authority of the City of Elizabeth improve the downtown parking experience and increase revenue with a minimum outlay for capital equipment. They will be able to recycle their existing meter housings. That's very smart spending in today's economy," said Bobra Wilbanks of POM.
