ODIN has done a great job of making RFID easy, which is much more difficult than people realize. The physics and deep science expertise evidenced in the new headquarters tells the story of how they can get 100% accuracy where others fail
Ashburn, Virginia (PRWEB) December 19, 2008
Congressman Tom Davis, former Chairman of the House Committee on Government and Procurement Reform was the guest of honor at the Grand Opening of ODIN technologies new World Headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia last Friday. ODIN is the world leader in packaged RFID solutions and has invested in a new headquarters to fuel continued global growth. The new facility is the first building purpose-built for three critical aspects;
- RFID innovation and testing
- DoD level facility security
- Team work, collaboration and rapid communication
Nearly 500 people joined in the festivities which included a live band, Irish dancers and bountiful food and drink. The guests were taking advantage of a rare opportunity to have a sneak peek at what the former Under Secretary of Commerce for Technology referred to as "an Innovation factory" (when awarding ODIN the Department of Commerce's prestigious Technology Innovation Award).
ODIN's headquarters is strategically located just outside Washington, DC short driving distance for military clients, Federal Leadership, and adjacent to the Dulles International Airport. While the facility is easy to get to, it is difficult to get into thanks to Department of Defense (DOD) -level security. The access points are hardened by dual factor authentication into secure areas by using the latest in defense technology - ISO standard 14443 HF RFID coupled with vascular scanning biometric systems. All critical assets in the facility are tagged with UHF RFID as ODIN leverages its own packaged IT Asset tracking solution for security and efficiency.
The lab is kitted out with state-of-the art test equipment for radio frequency analysis and design. This investment in technology enables more rapid Benchmarking of the latest RFID equipment for ODIN clients. At various stations within the lab the R&D manifests itself in a mature state. 12 packaged solutions including Data Center Tracking, SMART Container, Medical Kit Automation, and several others are operational in the lab for client system verification and validation.
"ODIN has done a great job of making RFID easy, which is much more difficult than people realize. The physics and deep science expertise evidenced in the new headquarters tells the story of how they can get 100% accuracy where others fail", noted former Congressman Tom Davis from Virginia, "I believe this is one of the most transformational technologies coming to market, and what ODIN has done to lead the industry is very impressive."
ODIN founder Patrick J. Sweeney II, author of RFID for Dummies opened the evening by reading Teddy Roosevelt's famous quote "The Man in the Arena" and praising the ODIN team for building a world-class facility to house the industry-leading RFID company. ODIN will finish 2008 Net income and cash flow positive with triple digit growth year-over-year from 2007.
"Our focus on creating Supremely Satisfied Clients and hiring only the best has served us well. The pride we all feel having built this facility is married with the sense of satisfaction that comes from creating a tight community of ODIN clients, partners, suppliers and friends." Commented Sweeney. "This new headquarters is the foundation for bigger and better things to come."
