Group disability coverage is more important now than ever. People may not realize that nearly one in three Americans will suffer a serious disability between the ages 35 and 65.

Stuckey & Company recently announced specialized short and long-term disability coverage insurance from The Hartford Company. The group disability insurance gives income replacement in the event that a worker cannot work due to an injury.

Research has shown that income lost through disability is two times as great as auto accident losses and three times as great as fire losses. In a down housing market, nearly half of all mortgage foreclosures are a result of a disability.

To be eligible for the disability coverage, one must be an active full-time employee, be in a specified class and work for their employer for a minimum amount of time. The standard benefits under the group disability coverage include rehabilitation services, workplace modification benefits, social security assistance, family care credit and a survivor income benefit.

The group disability coverage from Stuckey & Company replaces a portion of income lost, encourages a return to work through incentives and rehabilitation programs and frees employers from difficult decisions. “The expert underwriters at Stuckey & Company have the expertise to discuss the various options that are available for group disability and can help determine the specific needs of employers and employees,” Stuckey continued.

Additionally, Stuckey & Company are now offering group life coverage from The Hartford. This unique group life insurance has a premium waiver, which means if an employee becomes disabled, they will not be responsible for paying the group life premium payments. The group life coverage also includes an accelerated death benefit, which allows an employee with a short time to live an advance on their group life insurance.
