Sharenik announces the launch of it's video holiday cards -- recently recognized by Mashable as a great unsung startup.

If a picture is a worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million

If you haven't found the time to send your holiday cards, video holiday cards offer a fast, green and budget-friendly alternative to the print variety.

"Instead of seeing a picture of your nieces and nephews posed in front of a tree, you can now see them wave hello or even sing a song," describes Mitch Fournier, founder of Sharenik - a video sharing website that was just featured by Mashable as a great unsung startup. "Video adds a dimension that pictures just can't touch."

Described by Mashable as "YouTube's holiday greeting card feature on steroids", Sharenik lets users choose from dozens of designs to create a virtual holiday card that can include up to 15 videos or photos. With the option of adding a holiday note (or full-blown holiday letter) and the ability to send your card to up to 500 friends, this holiday card offers a 21st century digital substitute for the paper version.

"My friends and family loved seeing my kids dance and sing in the video," says Susan Liang, a recent Sharenik card user. "I loved being able to send the cards without having to stuff, address, lick or stamp a big pile of envelopes." Save time and trees -- a winning combination these days.

"Being able to track who has seen my card and get comments via the online dashboard is really helpful," says Mike Farber, another recent Sharenik user. "I have found it's helped kick off conversation with friends instead of just being a one-way blast out."

"If a picture is a worth a thousand words, a video is worth a million," Fournier says. But it won't cost a million as Sharenik will be offering its holiday video cards for free this season. "We can all use a little more cheer in our lives and we'd like to do our part to help people spread the holiday spirit," Fournier said. Compared to the typical cost of $1.50 for creating and mailing a card, the savings can really add up. Bah, humbug? Start humming a new tune.

Sharenik ( is a video sharing website where users can privately share videos with friends and family. The site offers video holiday cards with plans in the works for Valentine's day video cards and more.
