W. Steven Martin Police Toy Run Helps Bring Holiday Gifts to Arizona Children.

Driven to bring joy to the hearts of Arizona children this holiday season, Native New Yorker Restaurant, the sports-themed family restaurant and grill franchise home to the best fiery hot wings west of New York, has teamed up with W. Steven Martin to sponsor the 21st Annual Police Toy Run on Sunday, Dec. 21.

The event gets underway at 10:30 a.m. at Chandler Harley Davidson and proceeds on a 60-mile round-trip to the Native New Yorker Restaurant in Maricopa, AZ where participants will enjoy live music, lunch and drink specials, plus an auction and 50/50 raffle drawing, with all proceeds benefiting the Toy Run program. In addition to the Toy Run, guests at all Native New Yorker Restaurants from now through December 21st can help to support the program by entering to win a 42" flat screen TV for just $5 per entry.

Check-in for the Toy Run begins at 8:30 a.m. and participants are to bring a new, unwrapped toy, plus a $10 donation, to Chandler Harley Davidson at 6885 W. Chandler Boulevard.

Sherri Lind, vice president at Native New Yorker, says she's encouraging participants to consider bringing gifts for older children and teenagers, such as small electronics, clothing, or even gift cards.

"Because of the current state of the economy, more children than ever before will need our help this holiday season, particularly older children and teens who are often overlooked," Lind said. "This event has helped to bring more than 2 million toys to kids in crisis throughout the valley, and we are so pleased to be a part of it again this year. It's an awesome program that helps police officers and fire fighters connect with the kids in their neighborhoods in a way that builds trust and community pride."

Established in 1987, the W. Steven Martin Police Toy Drive provides year-round support for local law enforcement, fire and military personnel, as well as churches and hospitals, to help bring smiles to young people in times of need. Each December, hundreds of police officers from across Arizona "go shopping" at the Toy Run warehouse to select toys and gifts for at-risk children in their communities.

"We are very grateful for the generous support of sponsors like Native New Yorker," said W. Steven Martin. "This year's challenge is particularly great for us, having suffered significant losses due to the lead-based toy recalls last year, in addition having to relocate our warehouse. We've been very fortunate to have such strong community support over the past 20 years, and we look forward to bringing holiday cheer to more children throughout Arizona."
