Dare to Dream Encourages Children to Say: "Yes, I CAN!"

"I CAN!", a new series of 20 books published by the Dare to Dream Fund, encourages their young authors to explore their dreams and the vista of possibilities to achieve those dreams.

Monterey, CA (PRWEB) December 24, 2008 -- "I CAN!", a new series of 20 books published by the Dare to Dream Fund, encourages their young authors to explore their dreams and the vista of possibilities to achieve those dreams.

"Our vision is to create an American society where every young person is given the opportunity to discover their potential in school, at work and in life," says Dawn Verdick, Founder & President of Dare to Dream Fund. "We believe that by combining community collaboration, multi-generational mentoring and programming in technology and the arts, we have an opportunity to create an unprecedented future for our nation's youth."

The "I CAN!" series is part of the Discovery program of Dare to Dream (information available online at http://www.daretodreamfund.org). The books, says Nina Rosete, Executive Director of Dare to Dream Fund, are intended to answer the following questions: "If anything were possible, who would you want to be? How would I want to change the world?" All the authors are between 9 and 15 years old. Most of the authors are members of the Community Partnership for Youth and the YMCA of the Monterey Peninsula, two organizations that Dare to Dream Fund is collaborating with to deliver their Lifecycle® suite of programs for youth.

"I chose to write this book because I thought it was a beginning for me, the start of imparting everything I know and all the memories that have accumulated in my mind, and to be mentored by someone who has experienced them in a completely different light," says Rikhil Patel, 15, one of the authors. "My hope was that this book would spark people's dreams into blazing realities."

"A lot of our young authors are from underserved communities, and the opportunity for them to write their books and talk about what they want to be really opens their eyes to possibility and hope," says Rosete. "Possibility and hope - ultimately, that's what Dare to Dream is all about."
