FL2, a high-end, full-service, interactive agency, won several 2008 W3 Awards, including a Best in Show Award, a Gold Award, and two Silver Awards. The W3 Awards honor creative excellence on the web and recognize outstanding websites, web marketing, and web video developed by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide. The awards were announced by the International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA).

FL2 won a Best in Show Award for the Orinda Wilder website (http://www.orindawilder.com), a Gold Award in the Self-Promotion category for its own website (http://www.FL-2.com), and two Silver Awards in the Real Estate and Best Structure and Navigation categories for the Riverfront Park website (http://www.riverfrontpark.com). FL2 has specialized in producing world-class interactive since 2001.

"We were amazed at the caliber and quality of work received this year," said Linda Day, the director of the IAVA. "Our winners continue to push the envelope of internet creativity and web design, and it is gratifying to see such great work from the smallest agencies to the biggest firms. On behalf of The International Academy of the Visual Arts, we are honored to recognize our winners as they continue to set a high standard of excellence for Web development."

More than 3,000 entries were received, and winning entries were judged and selected by the IAVA, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms. IAVA members include executives from such organizations as Coach, Conde Nast, Disney, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Estee Lauder, HBO, Monster.com, MTV, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Victoria Secret, Wired, and Yahoo!.

Website entries were judged based on the following factors: creativity, usability, navigation, functionality, visual design, and ease of use. To uphold high standards of excellence, fewer than 10% of all entries were selected as Gold Winners. Other outstanding entries were Silver Winners. Best in Show selections represent the highest mark of distinction and were also selected by the Academy based on scoring. The judges award Best in Show honors to only the top 1% of all work entered, and the Orinda Wilder website was one of only 33 sites selected out of the 3,000 competing sites.

FL2's award-winning websites are designed to give users a brand experience that incorporates unconventional and highly effective marketing and advertising techniques. FL2's sites also allow users to engage with interactive media in unexpected and compelling new ways, integrate real-world experiences into the online experience, and demonstrate FL2's understanding of the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.

"It's a great honor for us to win these W3 awards," says Karl Becker, president of FL2. "We're able to produce groundbreaking interactive because we work with like-minded clients who share our core value of progressive thinking. All of our relationships are built on a foundation of trust and communication. We regularly team with branding and advertising agencies that are looking for an interactive partner and that appreciate the innovation that underlies outstanding design. These partnerships work because the agencies act as the brand manager and provide the overall brand positioning, then trust us to augment their campaigns by allowing us to do what we do best—bring brands, strategies, and marketing campaigns into the interactive world. Since everything in the interactive world is trackable, we can really show value and the return on the client's investment. In a time when advertising spending is under the microscope, our interactive strategies provide a real-time report card of revenue and lead generation performance."

FL2's new website for marquee skate brand Vision Streetwear was also selected by Communication Arts, the world's premier trade publication for design and visual communications, as a winner in the Interactive Annual 14, the magazine's annual competition for excellence and innovation in web design.
