Faith Comes By Hearing, World's Foremost Audio Bible Ministry, is Launching a Bible Listening Challenge at the Second Bapist Church of Houston

The Second Baptist Church of Houston is partnering with Faith Comes By Hearing to embark on an amazing Bible listening adventure. 'You've Got The Time' is 40-day Bible listening challenge sponsored by Faith Comes By Hearing, the world's foremost Audio Bible ministry. Launching January 2009 for the Houston and Galveston areas, the goal is to get every man, woman, and child in 3,600 Houston churches engaged in God's Word.

This is a super opportunity to get on the same page as a church family. Most of us have been reading the Bible for many, many years. Listening to God's Word, however, can add even greater depth and understanding to our times in the Scripture.

Albuquerque, NM (PRWEB) December 29, 2008 -- When Dr. Ed Young of Second Baptist Church of Houston heard about You've Got The Time launching there in early 2009 and began listening to the Biblestick for himself, he decided to get involved immediately.

Dr. Young said, "This is a super opportunity to get on the same page as a church family. Most of us have been reading the Bible for many, many years. Listening to God's Word, however, can add even greater depth and understanding to our times in the Scripture."

You've Got The Time is 40-day Bible listening challenge sponsored by Faith Comes By Hearing, the world's foremost Audio Bible ministry.

Second Baptist Church of Houston originally planned to embark on this "amazing Bible listening adventure" September 15. The ministry team gave out almost 37,000 MP3 discs - in English, Spanish, Farsi, Mandarin, Arabic, Japanese and Bulgarian. They also provided 3,500 BibleSticks for those adults not familiar with MP3 technology and 6,000 KIDZ BibleSticks for the children.

Then hurricane Ike hit.

Their main campus sustained substantial damage. Staff members reported a foot of water had washed through the Worship Center and that trapped water threatened to break the beautiful stained glass dome.

After the hurricane, church leaders decided to conduct the service outside on a soccer field, and are currently holding services in two gymnasiums and the sanctuary as the Worship Center is repaired, which could take up to a year.

This powerful storm didn't set back the Second Baptist Church of Houston family though; they understand the power of God's Word, and, despite Ike's aftermath, began listening two weeks later.

Church members said God's Word in audio was a timely source of peace. Although there was no electricity, many members listened to their battery-powered BibleSticks. Stories also surfaced about children sitting and listening to their KIDZ Bibles and feeling comforted by God's Word in audio.
