Any day is a good day to adopt a bear with heart. Well not just adopt a bear, but create one, stuffings and all, choose a heart for it and then name and adopt the furry friend. What special pleasure this activity brings to kids who have a built in bear care factor.
Tampa's NuSurance Corporation and Adviatech put on a well attended Build-A-Bear® Workshop last Tuesday and the excitement in the room was palpable. Giggles and smiles were the order of the day as 25 children from the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay got elbow deep into the project at the Westfield mall in Brandon, Florida.
Both NuSurance Corp, an online insurance agency and Adviatech, an online Marketing company, feel quite strongly about giving back to their community and what better way to do that than with a "beary" entertaining afternoon that ended with kids and bears partnered for life.
Each child got to pick their fave bear to be stuffed and then waited with bated breath for the Heart ceremony. The choosing of the heart of the bear is super important because the children choose it to define what their bear is all about. The heart of course is the life of the bear.
Once the heart is chosen the next step is selecting the outfits, and what a riot that turned out to be. Each child picking an ensemble that best reflected what their bear represented to them. A personal choice to be sure, it told everyone how special those bears were to the children.
The best was the last - the adoption ceremony - very special and momentous for little ones as the kids get to not only officially name their fuzzy charges, but also adopt them to take home. The most solemn part of the ceremony was the pledges each child gave to care for and love their special bears.
"It was a blast with the kids all having an amazing time," laughed Christopher Kazor, CEO of NuSurance Corp. The adults had just as much fun watching the kids make their bears and reliving bear memories of their own when they grew up.
"Build a Bear® is a great concept and helps build character for the kids," Kazor went on to say. Kazor chose this type of charitable event because he has a strong desire to participate directly and to see how donations are put to use.
NuSurance plans to make this an annual event and to expand to every city where Nusurance has an agent. The goal for next year is to hold a Workshop in Tampa, Sarasota, Tallahassee, and Atlanta, Georgia.
