Louisville, KY (PRWEB) December 31, 2008
Natural Awakenings, a national healthy living publication that brings holistic health information to the public every month, will be launching a Metro Louisville Edition in early 2009. Brought to the region by Camille B. McManus of Restyling Lives, Inc., the magazine will serve the market area of Jefferson, Shelby, Oldham, Bullitt, Hardin, Meade, Nelson, and Spenser counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties in Indiana.
With a seamless integration of both a national and local focus in each issue, special features, interviews with national figures, and guest columns, each issue of Natural Awakenings also offers local news briefs, stories with a local slant, resource directories, a community calendar and more, positioning Natural Awakenings as a valuable asset to the entire community.
Healthy living entrepreneur, Sharon Bruckman, launched the first Natural Awakenings magazine in Naples, Florida in 1994 in response to a strong local holistic health community and thousands of like-minded readers eager to connect with each other. The publication was an immediate success and a second edition in Sarasota soon followed. By 1999, the company was ready to branch out into its own franchise network through the Natural Awakenings Publishing Corporation. Today, 54 markets strong and growing, Natural Awakenings serves a thriving community of over 2 million readers.
"I first became aware of Natural Awakenings through my sister, Kristy, who lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She had fallen in love with the magazine and knew that I would too," Camille McManus, publisher of the Metro Louisville Edition said. "Since natural medicine is something I hold very close to my heart because of my own healing experience, bringing this home, to the Louisville area, seemed like a natural fit."
Each month, Natural Awakenings magazines across the country take practical looks at the latest natural approaches to nutrition, fitness, creative expression, personal growth and sustainable living. Interviewing many well-known national experts such as Jack Canfield, Dr. Andrew Weil, Deepak Chopra and more, the magazine offers inspiring how-to articles as well as a fresh perspective around a timely theme.
At the front of each community issue, as in this instance the Metro Louisville Edition, Natural Awakenings will present global news and views as well as a complement to news and events of local interest. Highlighting healing arts practitioners in the local area, the magazine will connect readers with a wealth of national and local resources mapping out alternate routes to a healthier, happier, longer life.
"My passion for this publication is two-fold. I am 42 years old and spent the majority of my thirties in a great deal of pain that was explained in various ways. After searching for almost a decade for a cure for this pain, I found a holistic physician who with very little testing was able to give me the prescription that I needed for a healthier life," McManus said. "What I learned through all of this was that to live a healthy life, we must take care of our mind, body and spirit, which is most definitely the essence of Natural Awakenings."
McManus is not alone on her journey to take care of the mind, body and spirit. According to audits conducted by the CVC Verification Council, Natural Awakenings readers are overwhelmingly female, 67% between the ages of 25-54, and nationwide, Natural Awakenings magazine rated higher than TV, radio, internet and other print publications as the #1 source for health-related information.
After launch, Natural Awakenings will be available in many locations throughout the greater Metro Louisville area, including Rainbow Blossoms, Rainbow Spiritual Education Center, Yoga East, Iron Body Fitness, local fitness clubs, health food stores, holistic practitioner offices, hair salons, nail salons and more. A digital subscription will also be available, and past issues are archived on the Natural Awakenings website, http://www.naturalawakeningsmag.com.
"In addition to publishing Natural Awakenings, I am working towards my Master's Degree in Holistic Nutrition, learning to understand the body and how it works is a passion and facilitates my desire to help people," McManus concluded. "With this, I want to touch as many lives as possible and hope to help as many people as I can. Even if I only touch one person, that would be one person I could help out of the pain and darkness."
