Second-Largest Indoor Waterpark in Ohio to Open in Spring '08

Maui Sands Indoor Waterpark Resort announces that the opening of the Sandusky Hawaiian-themed indoor waterpark resort is scheduled for April 15th, 2008.

Sandusky, OH (PRWEB) February 1, 2008 -- Say "Aloha" to the Midwest's newest attraction - Maui Sands Indoor Waterpark Resort. This year-round Hawaiian-themed indoor waterpark in Ohio will bring a slice of Hawaii to the shores of Lake Erie when it opens April 15th, 2008 in Sandusky, Ohio. With 306 guest suites in three hotels, 55,000 square feet of tubes and waves with real-life surfing, Maui Sands Resort will be Ohio's second largest indoor waterpark.

Visitors should prepare; Maui Sands Indoor Waterpark Resort -- www.mauisandsresort.com -- boasts unique features that cannot be seen at any other Sandusky indoor waterpark. This 55,000-square-foot water playground features more than 10 state-of-the-art water attractions, including daredevil slides, adventurous activity pools and attractions for kids ages two to 92.

This Sandusky indoor waterpark prides itself on offering guests innovative and exciting attractions like the SurfRider® and CannonBowl™. The SurfRider® is North America's first and only real-life deep-water surf machine. Unlike anything experienced before, riders can ride a boogie board or real finned surfboard on a continuous two-foot wave with a landing cushion of four feet of water. But a waterpark wouldn't be fit without a mind-blowing waterslide like the CannonBowl™. Riders slide down a steep, dark tunnel into a huge bowl, where they take several circular spins before plunging through a corkscrew chute into the lazy river below. See detailed explanations of additional water attractions plus dynamic video footage at www.mauisandsresort.com/water.html.

Maui Sands Resort understands that all families are different - that's why there are a variety of room types to accommodate every style and budget. Guests can choose from five price tiers that include a mix of unique suites and room types.

Guests can experience a traditional island luau at Maui Sands Resort's signature restaurant, Ono Poi (i.e. delicious food), with an authentic Hawaiian pig roast and feast. If guests are looking for something from the ocean, they can enjoy the sumptuous Mahi Mahi at Black Sands Restaurant and Lava Lounge. Featuring a beautiful view of the indoor waterpark, the restaurant will serve American fare with a Hawaiian flare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Read about more of our dining options at www.mauisandsresort.com/dine.html.

Other additional features of the Sandusky indoor waterpark resort are the 70 quaint cabanas, each containing two cushioned chaise lounges, television, refrigerator and full food and beverage service. If guests are looking to relax and unwind, a visit to Lokahi, Maui Sands Resort's full-service spa and salon, may just be the answer. Featuring a Hot "Volcano" Stone Massage and the rejuvenating "Maui Mud" Body Wrap, Lokahi will offer a full selection of body treatments, skin care, manicures/pedicures and a host of spa day packages. And while the adults enjoy being pampered, the children can play in the 6,000-square-foot Bonzai Game Arcade. The arcade offers 75 top-of-the-line interactive redemption games and traditional video games, including Dance Dance Revolution, Route 66 Bowling and virtual jump rope.

Maui Sands Indoor Waterpark Resort is privately owned and operated by the Maui Sands Resort Company under the direction of E. Scott Emerson. This $30 million project will officially open to the public April 15, 2008. It is located at the intersection of State Routes 250 and 2 in Sandusky, Ohio.
