Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 7, 2008 -- Daniel Roth Productions announces the premiere of its new feature film documentary, Do You Believe In Magic?, at the Pan African Film Festival February 9 and 14 in 2008. The film depicts the true life tale of two boys' journey from the gritty townships of South Africa to the glitter of Las Vegas to compete in the World Teenage Magic Championship.
From the producer of documentaries such as, Make It Funky and Spit comes, Do You Believe In Magic?, a heartwarming improbable true life tale of two boys living in the poorest townships of Cape Town, South Africa who dream of competing in the World Teenage Magic Championship
in Las Vegas. Do You Believe In Magic?, chronicles the two boys' entire journey from their homes all the way to the glitz of Las Vegas, offering a very real and sometimes heartbreaking look at the determination and perseverance required to realize a dream in the face of overwhelming odds.
The story's two heroes, Lesley and Mfundo, endure long and dangerous trips alone each week to attend the school in Cape Town, South Africa, on Saturday mornings. Both have the dream of winning the school's annual competition in order to advance to the annual World Teenage Magic Championship held in Las Vegas. Having never traveled beyond the boundaries of their hometown, the trip represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet legendary professional magicians such as David Copperfield while making a name for themselves as future professional magicians. Both boys quickly steal the hearts of anyone watching this amazing tale with their honest and courageous performance.
"I read a story in the newspaper back in 2006 about a school in Cape Town, South Africa called, The College of Magic, and I became so enchanted with their mission that I knew I had to somehow tell the story of these kid's improbable journey, despite knowing nothing about magic, the school, or the kids who attend it," said Daniel Roth, the film's director. "Here in the West all we hear about Africa is disease, poverty, civil war and genocide, so I was determined to tell a positive joyful story about Africa that demonstrates the strength and resiliency of the human spirit."
The film will premiere at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles on February 9, 2008 at 11 a.m. and February 14, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Magic Johnson Theater. All are welcome to attend, and parents are encouraged to bring their children to experience this story of hope, magic and transformation.
